Looking back at the DICE Game Jam footage

Post » Sat Jun 16, 2012 6:48 pm

As I'm sure a lot of people know Todd Howard attended DICE to deliver a keynote.

This isn't the entire video but it's the creations the developers came up with when given a period of time to do whatever they wanted..

By now some of these have been implemented or are about to be with Dawnguard.

List:

Spoiler
Seasonal Footage - Not in
Flow based water - Not in
Spears - Not in
Kill cams for magic - Implemented
Kill cams for archery - Implemented
Paralysis Runes - Not in
Hanging structures and moving platforms - Not in
Dungeons built around water currents - Not in
Dark Dungeons - Not in
Advanced follower commands - Not in
Adoption - Not in
Build your own home - Not in
Spell combinations - Not in
Waygates - Not in
New mounts - Coming in Dawnguard
Goblins - Not in
High level Draugr - Not in
Mounted Combat - Implemented
Dragon mounts - Not in
Familiars - Not in
Kinect Shout activation - Implemented
Improved underwater visuals - Implemented
Snow Footprints - Not in
Not rigid objects (leading to weapons like the flail and tree motion) - Not in
Special Arrows - Not in
Werebear - Not in
Werewolf Perk Tree - Coming in Dawnguard
Vampire standing feeding - Coming in Dawnguard
Vampire Lord - Coming in Dawnguard
Giant Mudcrab - Not in

Perhaps there are more of these coming in Dawnguard than have been revealed. Obviously they are/would be a lot more polished than displayed in the video.

Personally I would like the dark dungeons where a torch, spell or night vision would be necessary.

DArk Dungeons, Waygates (what are they btw?) and dragon mounts were the only ones of interest to me. let's hope that with future patches and dlc the list not only expands but improves as well!

Waygates (what are they btw?)
Fast travel for people who don't like fast travel for roleplay reasons. Granted, some people who hate fast travel for roleplay reasons don't even use the carriages, so I'm not sure if waygates would be used. Presumably, new characters could also use them to get to wilderness areas they haven't been to yet as well.

i think way gates are used to teleport from one place to another. similar to how one went to the shivering isle

Waygates are form of fast travel, but roleplay effective (Like the carts). If you fast travel, you'll probably not want those.

Dragon Mounts would require the ENTIRE game to be changed... EG: Cities in the true worldspace, instead of their own.

Most of the gamejam stuff will come to us eventually. It wasn't officially stated by Todd, but it's pretty obvious 95% of it will appear in DLC's or Patches. Apart from the Giant Mudcrab, thats just weird.

Edit your post, OP--we have Kinect shouts.

I, personally, want variety to dungeons and non-rigid objects. The variety shown at the game jam is Legend of Zelda-esque and puzzly, like darkness, moving platforms, and water currents; things that have to be thought about to get through. That really appeals to me.

I've changed it. I play on PC so I wasn't sure about it.

Pretty sure we are getting spears and dragon riding in the next expansion pack. Season foliage and snow footprints might come in as a free update

dragon riding would really make exploration pointless. And that is Beth's main focus on the game. Beth wants you to walk around or ride a horse and experience those things they've put all over Skyrim.

Wait wait, really?

Water is blurry when you're underwater, and objects get clearer as you move towards them.

Going by your logic, fast travelling also makes exploration pointless. Dragon riding was one of the most requested features by the community, even before the game came out... they would be stupid not to add it

So what? Multiplayer was the 2nd most requested feature from the fans (guess what came in 1st place) and it won't be done. BGS will not go down the multiplayer route.

And I hope they don't put dragon riding either...I find it awful and non fitting.

so by your logic just because it was the #1 thing "requested" by the community, which doesn't include the whole fan base of TES, it should be implemented? Also, where's your proof that it was #1 requested addon?

We can expect hanging structures, moving platforms and water currents in dungeons in Dawnguard. Those are just a matter of dungeon design, and I bet Bethesda will use those new ideas in the new dungeons.

I want seasonal foilage the most though
