Looking for a gaming mouse.

Post » Fri Dec 09, 2011 7:53 am

I've been looking for a gaming mouse for a while, I like lots of buttons, so I've had my eye on a Razer Naga. I mostly play FPS, but I use custom configs and/or think it would be easier to hit a button with my right thumb than fish through my keyboard for the right button (especially when said button is very far from the WASD)

But before I bought I wanted to hear your opinions.

I normally bind all the buttons around wasd, like qerfzxc.

Anyways, I have a Cyborg RAT 7 myself, I got it for about $75 on a sale. I bought it just to try it, I planned on taking it back but ended up keeping it cause I liked it so much. It doesn't have too many buttons but it does have a SNIPER button that cuts the DPI by whatever % you want, works like a charm.

I dont no about the Rat, the design looks like it's trying to be way too " innovative"

And I like having an insane amount of buttons, I tried the Naga out at best buy and it fits my hand almost perfectly, though I'm not realy sure yet.

Thanks for the suggestions,

Say I like he buttons, but is there realy any use for all 15 extra buttons?

Like for Half life 1-6 could be for weapons,
For team fortress 2 I could make custom configs for each class, 1-3 being universal for weapon switches or stick to my binding of mwheelup = primary, mwheeldown = secondary, m3 = melee. The. 1-4 being for engineer buildings, 1-9 being spy disguises, 10 being the spy last disguise. Among others.
In S.T.A.L.K.E.R, I could realy optimize my controlls, placig all of the hotkeyd on my mouse instead of scattered arround the keyboard.

Other games wouldn't benefit from having all the extra buttons, though.

Honestly what would you do with all those buttons in an MMO?

Abilities/macros/shortcuts. 15 buttons is nothing in an MMO.

There is an ambidextrous model that I know of but not the cost. But it is a pretty comfortable 5 button and you can almost treat the wheel side-scroller function as two extra buttons.

I heard that that mouse is extremely fragile and has little durability (Supposedly only lasts a year or less).

I should be more specific, I want a large right handed mouse, with many buttons, and under 100 US Dollars.

Well that's better than the one I have...

But only 2 extra buttons, I can't realy think of a way I could use only 2 extra buttons...

I believe I am very attached to the Naga, with the fancy buttons, and design and what not, and I can think of a lot of ways I can use it, just I do fine without it...

If I buy it and decide I don't like I could sell it to someone for a discount and only be set back about 20-30 dollars...
