Looking for a working weapon rack

Post » Sat Jun 16, 2012 9:09 pm

Okay so I've just realized while trying to sell it to a merchant that I've got the "grand staff of charming" stuck in my inventory, I looked on the internet to learn that it belongs to Ogmund's Request which I had started but only after finding the staff... this explains why I thought my arrow was bugged for this quest.

I looked for a solution and it appears that you can put it on a weapon rack then take it back to fix the quest, I knew my weapon rack in breeze-home didn't work so I tried the two racks in Jorrvaskr which I should be allowed to use since I'm the companions leader, didn't work either.

So I'm just looking for a weapon rack that you can actually put weapons on, any ideas?

You try the rack over the bed or one in hallway? I didn't even notice one of em for the longest time...

Different racks work for different people.

I've had multiple files and on each one different homes had different results.

Have you tried Riften or Solitude ? Once you buy them and pay for the decorations. Those two work just fine. The one in Whiterun is broken for me as well.

Even the manequins work too. At first they dissapear when putting some apparel, but when I exit the house and then reenter they are now visible and wearing the items I did put on before.

Same here. On one of my two characters the rack in Breezehome didn't work, and on my current one it does.

I did read somewhere that the racks and bookshelves get bugged if you visit the house before purchasing decorations, I did this at the Breeze Home and is the only one, so far with the weapon's rack not functioning. With the other two (Riften and Solitude) I just went there until I got all the decorations and seem to be working just fine. But I don't really know

weapons rack in white run won't work unless you bought the home with all upgrades first before you set foot inside the home.

patch 1.4 is supposed to fix this bug.

however, the weapons rack on the top of the main bedroom in white run should work, at least in my case.

There's another weapon mount in Breezehome, above the front door. I was 350 hours into the game before I noticed that & the floor-standing rack, too. All of these & the bookshelves work. I'm pretty sure I didn't fully furnish before I first stepped inside. For sure I added the arcane enchanter later.

Try the one over the door.

This is actually right! I've tried in Whiterun and Riften, houses that I had both visited once to see how it looks like before purchasing any upgrade; none of the weapons rack work. Now I just fast traveled to Solitude, became thane by finishing Elisif's request, bought the house with all its upgrades; all weapons racks work correctly. However the mannequins there seem bugged, the clothes don't appear even after re-entering multiple times, but this should be fixed in 1.4 as well from what I've read. Too bad we can't place the strange amulet on them to get rid of it.

I then placed the staff on a rack (must be equipped on the right hand), took it back and my quest updated itself asking me to bring it to Enthir. Problem solved.

I hadn't noticed the one over the entrance before but no it doesn't work either.

Not for me I've taken the shield and the 2 swords from it but couldn't put anything on it after.

Thanks to everyone who answered.
