Lost Boone and ED-E

Post » Sat Mar 05, 2011 11:34 pm

Hello, recently I lost Boone and ED-E, the map markers were somehow still following me.
So I typed this in the ~ screen:
prid
moveto player
It worked for me but now my question is: Does this count as cheating because I still want to get some achievements and that isn't possible if you used cheats.
So does this count as cheating?
Thanks for your time.

If you use the console but still want to get achievements, save your game, quit and then relaunch the game. This will start a new session and achievement tracking will be re-enabled.

As to whether or not it's "cheating", that opinion varies widely. I don't consider it "cheating" when I use commands to do stuff like retrieve lost companions or unstick myself from an area where I get trapped or clip into a rock or something. To me, that's correcting a problem with the game.

OTOH, using console command to give myself a weapon or skill points or something like that, I would consider as "cheating."

The nice thing about FO3 or FONV is that you can play anyway you want so as i will console command a pistol and a rifle in the game sticking to a specific round or two, i use serious strict loot rules to compensate for this. So while i may have the weapon situation taken care of, i sometimes can not afford the ammo as i can not just pick anything up to sell. I can pick up anything i can craft with like wrenches or surgical tubing but i could not pick up a weapons repair kit or a doctors bag even if they were laying at my feet. If i need money i can vendor ONLY what i craft so my characters are poor most of the time as in hardcoe mode i eat up alot of potential profit just keeping the character rolling. Things like pre war books and some collectables or quest items (the artillery trigger from the Boomers can be grabbed before Ceasar asks) i can grab and haul back to a safe house for decoration or to save a step (a pressure cooker for the rebreather), but i think we all have different versions of what is and is not cheating if there is even such a thing in a single player game.

To me, cheating is using evil means to acquire things that console commands/mods can allow you to. For example, magically accessing console commands in a multiplayer game or getting godmode and noclip. In a single player environment, the sky's the limit. Just try to limit yourself. I love using CC to get guns and misc items to decorate my house. I was too lazy to go out and acquire a shotgun to put beside my toilet.
