Lost a Location (if that's possible)

Post » Mon Jun 04, 2012 9:52 pm

I heard a story about a large tree that seems to lead off the side of a mountain somewhere in the game... I think it is up high over a river... but I have had no luck in finding. The first time I played through, I was sure I could see it in the distance, but now, I am having no luck at all.

Anyone got a clue as to where this location is (or if I was dreaming it)? :ermm:

There are lots of trees in the game. Can you be more specific? Is there supposed to be something special about this tree?

I think I read about it being long and stretched across from one set of mountains to another... not sure if it leads somewhere though. I'm sure it sits high over a river and could almost be a bridge... but it's actually a log.

In fact, I'm sure I saw it in Machinima's trailer for that new web-based Black Blade show...

Not sure. I've got over 600 hours logged in my game and have been pretty much everywhere and I don't remember ever seeing a log bridge like that anywhere.

The only one I can remember is a small short log leading to a Hagraven on top of some rocks but not any mountains.

Sorry.

It sounds like you mean the tree that has fallen down and acts as a bridge from one cliff face to another. Bandits spawn on this tree....

Could this be the one ?

I know of one near Ivarstead. It's in front of a waterfall. Not exactly where near Iverstead though, think it's to the northeast, but that's as close to a guess as I can get. Nothing special near it when I encountered it, one chest and two bandits - one of which was standing on the fallen tree, one on the far side of the river... Is that what you mean maybe?

It's in the general vicinity of Ivarstead, I can tell you that much. I usually run into it when I'm on the path between Ivarstead and Riften, if I'm not too mistaken. If I am mistaken on that, I'm at least 100% sure that it's around Ivarstead.

It's "above" Hillgrund's Tomb and crosses that huge waterspan.... There's a chest in a treestump, a dead bandit - and a live bandit in the middle of the tree. Go to Hillgrund's Tomb, then turn slightly left and uphill, and just start walking.... You can get to Hillgrund's Tomb easiest by following the road past Valtheim.

Are y'all talking about that crushed cabin with the Dibella Shrine in it?

Edit: NVM - I scrolled down far enough in the linked thread to see that tree. Now I need to find it.

Edit 2: Found it. It's like 130 degrees from Hillgrund's Tomb. If you were to follow a straight line from Hillgrund's to Lost Knife Hideout you'll find it. Yeah, it's a great view from almost every angle up there. :o

Here it is:

I'm standing right in the middle of the log. This is across a series of waterfalls leading up to the rift. See Whiterun on the far left? The location is best reached from the Eastern path.

It's like 130 160 (<-Edit 3 ) degrees from Hillgrund's Tomb. If you were to follow a straight line from Hillgrund's to Lost Knife Hideout you'll find it. Yeah, it's a great view from almost every angle up there.

Sorry, I clicked "Quote" instead of "Edit" so there's this entry now. <_<
