ED-E My Love Inventory bug [Minor Spoiler]

Post » Fri Apr 15, 2011 2:52 pm

Be warned! Because of a bug in the quest, ED-E's inventory gets emptied when the Followers of the Apocalypse perform the upgrade. Apparently, if you want to keep everything, you'll need to empty it out before you take it in. I'll have to go back and re-do EVERYTHING I did while he was down for maintenance unless I want to kiss over 200 lbs of inventory good bye. AAARGH!! This is REALLY annoying.

I checked my save games, and this bug will cost me 5 hours of game play to undo. What a total pain in the tail!!! I am so disgusted with the number of bugs in this game.

you can get your items back after the upgrade..

prid 1732d1
OpenTeammateContainer 1

opens a trade window with the old ed-e where you can get your stuff back

this is posted on the wiki, and in another thread

OK, it didn't take long to find a faster answer. This can be fixed using the console. First, enter "prid 1732d1" to access ED-E. Then, enter "OpenTeammateContainer 1" to open a trade window that has all of ED-E's previous inventory. I went to the motel room in Novac and emptied out my own inventory, then transferred everything from the trade window into my inventory. After transferring all items back to ED-E, I grabbed my own inventory back out of the closet and everything is back where it should be.

And I see that someone else already posted this same answer... I went looking in local threads but didn't see it. I found it on the wiki.

LoL, that's not a bug, friend.
Common sense would tell you to unload ED-E before giving him over to the followers...
Would you put your car into the repair shop with 200 lbs of valuable [censored] in it?
I would not,

No, it's a bug. It happens because the new ED-E is actually a different object in the software than the one you left for the upgrade.
And I guarantee you that if I take my car in for service, everything that was in it when I brought it in better be in it when I get the car back. If the mechanics know what's good for them.

its because you do not get the same ED-E back after upgrading
there is the
ED-E Vanilla and he is however you fixed him
ED-E BoS Cleaned up Heavy Armor Added
ED-E Followers He is cleaned up with new weapons

Its not really a bug its because there are three different companions and whatever choice you make that is the companion you get....
Me personally I wish there was a side quest to get ED-E outfitted with hellfire armor and better weapons if you choose to keep the information on him for yourself....
