Love this game, my 1 change I would make is:

Post » Thu May 31, 2012 11:01 pm

This game is everything I had hoped it to be and more. I am very happy about it and I know I will be playing it for years to come (glitches, bugs and such be damned).

I was playing my 3rd char last night (my first on Master difficulty) and I noticed that the only thing that really takes me out of the experience is spending so much time in my inventory (having to use alot of health pots and poisons on master, chose not to do smithing and enchanting for the challenge).

When fighting a hard fight, I am opening my inventory several times to survive. It really slows down the combat.

Just to clarify, I am not complaining. Just curious if anyone else feels this way, and if they have any suggestions. Thanks!

I think they fixed hotkeys, in which case you can hook your most used potions to them? So instead of pausing and taking them, you just hit a key. Done. :D

Hotkey your heal pot - favorites then hold 1, 2, 3 etc... Or xbox the left arrow thing when in the mini-favorites bottom left menu

Lack of hotkeys on consoles is a bit limiting (coming from someone who played Oblivion, DA, ME1 and ME2 on PC), but there are only so many "keys" on a console. I just work with what I have.

What would I change? All those damnable mountains that I have to go up, down, and around. :-)

Yes sorry, I am on the Xbox. I find they don't really utilize the the D-pad to it's potential.

I had both Morrowind and Oblivion on PC, however I just cant keep up with the price of PC hardware anymore now that I am married with children.

I really miss those hot keys.

It's funny you posted this because I was thinking that they use the D-pad better too.

Maybe put Armors as the right, weapons/left, magic/down, items/up and have A and B be the select/deselect buttons.

Way less trudging.

I also almost feel like guzzling potion after potion while pausing the combat makes the game a lot less challenging. Maybe moving things at half speed while going through inventory...

Why don't you use the "favourite" feature? It's faster than opening your inventory and that's what it was made for.

Yeah, I'd like an option to have the "cross" buttons behave like the player menu, except with the top button still being favorites. So top = faves, left = magic, right = inventory, down = map.

Quick question. I play on PC and I know there are 8 hotkeys. I was told that the consoles only have 2 hotkeys. Is this true and if not then how do you use more than just 2?

Yes, there are only 2 hot keys on the Xbox controller this time around. You can only bind something to the left and right D-Pad.

My personal change would be the "pause combat to do X" feature. This one dynamic is the real deal breaker for me.

Ok. My brother plays on the xbox and he was asking. That sounds like a HORRIBLE idea from Bethesda I hope they learn from their mistakes next time around and give us something like Oblivions or Morrowinds.

I hate Oblivion's console hotkeys just because it was such a pain to hit the diagonal ones on the run. IMO the Skyrim favourite system with two hotkeys works better for me anyway. I'm generally pretty quick in the faves menu so it doesn't really slow down my game a lot. Plus the small amount that it does slow down, I enjoy to get my bearings and plan my next move. To each their own I guess.

Seems like your using a 360 controller and since the d-pad is terrible on it, it would make sense that you have a hard time hitting those keys. However for the people using the PS3 and PC it is much easier to hit those keys. Why should 2/3 of the audience suffer because the 360 gamers have a terrible dpad?

pausing during combat doesn't bother me that much, i only really do that to use pots/poisons.
my only complaint is i wish time was in real time(1min skyrim=1min real time). that's the one and only thing i'd change about skyrim...
