Low Violence

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 11:49 am

Hello - I did some searching and I can't seem to find an answer to this.

Is there a toggle or something to play FNV in low violence mode? I saw referneces to the German version, but we don't speak German here.

Thanks,
R

Low violence? Like less gory? I don't think so.

While it is possible to play the game with little or no violence, it is almost impossible to explore the wasteland without killing some critters. The Animal Friend Perk can stop the animal fights. But, you will still have to kill bugs and Deathclaws. It is possible, but challenging to play the game without killing any NPCs.

As for the Gore, if you have the PC version, there may be some mods that reduce the gore aspect of the game, so that your kills are less gruesome.

Most definitely not for language. I've yet to see a game that had two different language modes with regard to censoring naughty language.

The gore can sometimes be switched on or off, depending on the game (certain games allow for more splatter, or fewer organs flying everywhere, or corpses remaining).

I do sort of sympathize with the original poster. Well, only in the sense that I am a min-maxer, so I WANT Bloody Mess for the 5% damage, but I hate bloody gore-piles all over the place. It isn't because I'm sensitive, but frankly, having 7 red paint splatters sitting on top of each other is a serious pain in the butt when I am trying to loot. God forbid I should snipe a guy on a mountainside and I can't find the gore pile. :)

So I do wish for Bloody Mess without the actual Bloody Mess. :) If that makes any sense.

Rohugh is a little girl.

... Fantastic choice of words to call a moderator. Who can ban you.... forever.

Language? Umm... no. I've never played a game with a language filter.

Honestly, it'd be nice if people could research games before they buy them, and decide whether or not their content is appropriate to their tastes/children. My version of the game (Australian) has a big honkin', red label that says "strong violence".

But alas, I don't think that'll ever happen.

ANYWAY, the way I see it, there's 3 choices:
1. Mod the game, if on PC.
2. If you're on Xbox or Playstation, return the game and get your money back.
3. Take the Bloody Mess perk. It's fun.

Unfortunately, unless someone creates a mod that re-records all the NPC spoken dialoge in the game the colorful language will be with us. I will say that the instances of curse words and phrases is remarkably small for the game, and the curse words when used are to effect, not just thrown in because they can cuss.

Except for Cass. You'd never understand a word she said if they bleeped her.

Language is pretty much impossible. You can use this INI tweak for Fallout 3, I have no idea if it works for NV but it's worth a try.

Edit Fallout_default.ini, insert this above [Display]:

bDisableAllGore=1

I don't understand the request, first you ask for low violence, then you say violence doesn't matter and you want less language?

It does, but I think in a bizarre sense that the 'gore' is actually one of the things that keeps the rating of this game down. Headshots do not occur like this in real life, so it's a dramatisation...so, as gorish as it may be, it's not realistic, and therefore some places with strict censorship regimes will let it slide.

The 5% is a bonus, true....

Sometimes it makes me wonder what people buy these games.
If you are too young to handle the blood and gore and swearing in this game, don't get it. Simple as that.
Do people even read the rating labels on the games? The ones that say, *Strong Language*?

I may be a bit harsh here, but this is Fallout we are talking about, and toning it down is like burning the disc.

I can understand. My friends son was watching me play and, I forget his name but the character I was talking to dropped the F bomb at least 6 times in the conversation. (As well as "mother blanker" twice.) I said "sorry about the language buddy". He replies, "oh it 's ok, dad says it all the time" with a smile. I had to laugh, he was so nonchalant about it.

He has as much fun watching us play as playing himself. (All games, not just this one.)

Because you'd rather your kid be or see you shooting people's heads off than hearing the word [censored]?
