LulzSec takes down Eve Online, Minecraft and League of Legen

Post » Fri Jun 17, 2011 4:28 am

I was browsing the BBC and came along to find out that LulzSec has attacked the CIA public website. You can find the story http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-13787229. They have also opened a phoneline where people can request hack attacks.

Well they've already crossed the line a few times already by hacking the Senate, FBI, CIA.

I can think of one place that, if they hacked could cause one hell of an uproar. I'm not going to post it here or anywhere else just in case they're watching.

A very interesting turn of events, having both of them after LulzSec. While I honestly wish the same fate on that particular website, I wish the best of luck to this jester fellow.

nope

the place is a background investigation group. (they investigate people who are applying for a job and they check up on them, make sure their info's accurate)

This just keeps getting better and better...

So who is Barrett Brown? High-up Anonymous member?

Barret Brown is the author of some books and is the one who is telling Topiary(A member of Lulzsec and the one who tweets on their twitter) what to do.Or that's what the video description says.

For some reason I feel like people would be a little more upset over hacking a nuclear installation than CIA.gov. I mean, that site is really just, "Hi, we're the CIA! Wanna read some stuff written up by our PR people? Sure you do!" :P

Can someone tell/PM me who/what "anonymous" " jester" "/b/" and this site we cannot speak of are? I feel hopelessly lost on all this.

Anyway from what I understand from this thread Jester is the good guy and he about to sink the "lul boat".
Is that about right?

You could call th3j35t3r a white hat hacker. Lulzsec attacked the CIA site, and since j35t3r is pro government, has begun attacking Lulzsec.

(although judging by the video he has uploaded, he has been poking at Lulzsec for some time)

anonymous is a hacker movement.

the site we cannot speak of is an imageboard.

/b/ is a section of the site we cannot name.

Anonymous= the hacking group that hacked PSN a while back, apparently they're in some kind of rivalry with LulzSec

Jester= pro-government hacker that specializes in hacking and taking down any terrorist-related websites. Apparently he's been tracking LulzSec for a while, but he openly joined the fray after the CIA site got hacked.

"/b/"= the internet's most wretched hive of scum and villainy. Generally, most of them have the social skills of a rabid badger, but when they have a cause to unite around, they're a force to be reckoned with, and even they hate LulzSec. Subforum of "that site"

"That site"= the site that hosts /b/

Pft. It's no hacker movement, neither is lulz. It might be a scriptkiddie movement, but putting idiots in the same group as actual hackers is an insult to us everywhere. Because if I ran with that mentality... Tip! If you've ever muddled around with something*, modified something, or written a chunk of code. Congrats you're a hacker. Therefore evil!

*something implies: Hardware, software, cars, electronics, anything inbetween.

Regardless, stop giving the 12-18yr olds attention and they'll go away. It was like this back in the late 90's too. Well that is if you were old enough to goto defcon, know what l0phet is(and why they got mocked), and why mooc0w still did some funny [censored]. And who Kevin Mitnick is.

Ok, Anonymous, for all intents an purposes, is exactly the same as a poet using the moniker Anon to sign off his poem. It's not really a group in any meaningful way.

Anonymous and LulzSec should battle it out.

I just read about this jester guy in the last thread, and wow this is getting fun now.

Not as fun as seeing these little turds handcuffed in front of a judge, but still fun.

/b/ is the random board of a particular japanese imageboard clone that has actually been knocked offline by lulzsec. It's the [censored] of the internet. I won't go into detail here, as it's against the rules. 3 rules, actually. These forum's rules, and rules 1 and 2.

th3j35s3r is a very, very famous and proficient whitehat, and anonymous is a tag name for anyone who supports /b/'s attacks. They have no leadership, structure, and are basically just an aimless horde that does some good things for the betterment of humanity, some things to stop oppression of freespeech, and some things just for the lulz. Basically, it looks like all the people who weren't skids that left /b/ in early, early 2006 have joined LulzSec and are solely doing things for the lulz.

Wow...pissing off the CIA and this "th3j35t3r" guy? Seems as though they seriously crossed a line and are now going to be paying for it. Frankly I hope this Jester guy can chase them back into their mummy's arms.

Some will get caught, but the organization will chug on as a whole. There's little chance of getting caught if there's higher-priority targets than you and you've chained loads of proxies from behind a VPN.

Something will happen. You more than likely will never hear of it outside of particular crypto boards though.

Sharing your internet on a (moderately secure, but still crackable) wireless connection and taking a few precautions could give you a level of deniability if the law finds you, too. If its plausible that an unknown person was using your connection, and nothing can be found on your computers...

Of course, I have little knowledge of either the technical or legal aspects of such things .
