I was fast travelling around, and then I saw a message up top that said "Your follower tires of waiting and leaves".....???

so i go back to my house where I've had her waiting for me and she's gone! I went to Dragonsreach and she's not there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

have I lost Lydia for good?? what did I do wrong??

Lydia can be quite unpredictable as to when she decides to follow you or not. I already had to use the console command several times to bring her back to me. If you're on the PC you can also do the same.

I've formed a probably unhealthy attachment to Lydia. She dies, I reload. Only twice now for that game-killer in 56 hours after I learned to keep her safer

I lost Faendal early on, to lose two companions... unthinkable.

After fights I get close to Lydia and call the healing spell, we bask in the healing glow together. I never tire of hearing her say she's sworn to carry my burdens. And of hearing her softly coughing or clearing her throat sometimes beside me when she's keen to get into the action and I'm readying myself for the fight

We go back often to our first house, Faendal's. Where loot is left safely in Faendal's chest during quests. He won't mind us using his safehouse

After reading my fellow adventurer's Dead Is Dead thread in here (very interesting, thanks!) we're exploring on foot more and running around like headless (but deadly lol) chickens less

First time round Lydia done a runner when I changed into a werewolf, never to be seen again. Don't blame her really.
