Lydia un-marriable again

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 11:07 am

I Wabbajacked Lydia to get her to my level, and it worked nicely. But now the marriage dialogue won't trigger. Yes, I have the amulet of Mara that I purchased from Whathisname at the temple of Mara in Riften. I went through the whole dialogue with him about it. Also, in a disturbing accident I was still wearing it when I walked into Vindrel Hall the first time Argis the Bulwark was there. He was quite interested in me.

So it's a Lydia only thing--again.

I'm on Xbox so there's probably no workarounds or fixes. But if anyone has any ideas, I'd like to hear them. Thanks.

That could be your problem.

That's what I'm thinking. I don't know why it would affect things this way but it seems that's the problem.

I wasn't aware that was necessary for her to marry you. I thought she would marry you as long as you were Thane of Whiterun, which I am. I do have the money to buy Breezehome but I really don't want to. Maybe I'll do a save, buy the place, and see if that works. I don't think it will but it would only take a few minutes so I'll give it a shot.

Lydia does require Breezehome to initiate the marraige option...as well as the Thane of Whiterun title.

Huh. Well that's news to me. I never knew she was something of a gold-digger. I still haven't bought Breezehome so I'll go ahead and do it. I have about 40 or so Damage Magicka Regens in a cupboard at Vindrel Hall so I'll sell them off and buy Breezehome---and then make Lydia move to Markarth.
