Lydia's vanishing act

Post » Fri Jul 06, 2012 6:11 am

I have Lydia as a follower and have come to enjoy her company on our travels - despite her eagerness to set off traps, throw herself in front of my bow, and generally be a pain.

Recently she vanished somewhere in the mountains and I have been looking for her for a while now. She normally reappears when I fast travel so I tried this. No joy, she remains lost . I heard that after a week or so she would return to Whiterun so I went there. Problem was that having arrived there I had to complete the Battle for Whiterun to get inside.

Ok so I completed that and still no Lydia. The thing is that I can still hear her cough behind me. She has had an irritating little cough almost since I first started out with her and when I went into my house in Whiterun she coughed !! She was nowhere to be found of course and having left and gone elsewhere I still hear her cough at times as though she is still there.

Am I stuck with an invisible and untalkative follower for ever now? I am not worried particularly about the 8k in gold or the 6k in jewelery she was carrying but it would be nice to get that back too.

It may seem strange but I kind of miss her. She has been with me since level 4 or so (I am level 45 now) and I just got used to having her around. She has been great for practicing my restoration on as she needs it during numerous encounters at this level

Anyone got any ideas - I play on the Xbox 360 so no console fixes here.

Can you get another follower? Or do they say you already have someone with you.

Not tried that - I seem to remember there was a magic using female I helped to clear out some hagravens in a tower near Riften a while back when Lydia was still with me in body as well as spirit. I could go back to her and see if she will join me. I will try that later today.

Or, if you're still in Whiterun, just go to The Drunken Huntsman and hire Jenassa. It'll cost you but spare you the travel.

If you want to save money save before asking the sword for hire. You only need to know if you have an invisible Lydia or not. Being able to go back to a save game before you lost her would probably be best.

I had gone to sleep just before I saved the game last night. I decided to load up this afternoon, just for 5 mins, to see if I could find out if she was still around. When I loaded up I looked up from the bed and there she was munching on some bread !!!!!

YIPPPEEEEEEE !!!!!

My Lidia is back and good as new. She even has all the gear she was carrying. We had hugs and a few meads to celebrate and then went out to cream some pirates lol
