~~Is Mage Armor really working?~~

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 7:41 am

--In the PC version of Elder Scrolls: Skyrim, the Alteration skill tree has a perk called "Mage Armor", which gives your spells such as Stoneflesh more potency "if you wear no armor". However, when I cast Stoneflesh, the tooltip still says the normal amount (i.e. 60 armor for stoneflesh). All I am wearing is a mage robe and some jewelry.
-
--So...Is the spell not working? Is it just that the tooltip doesn't update? Or is it counting my cloth robes and rings with 0 armor, as armor?
-
--It would be stupid for it to NOT work with mage robes that provide 0 armor. Do I have to run around in underwear for the spell to work? My only assumption can be that either the spell isn't working, or the tooltip just doesn't update like other tooltips. When I select a potion or skill that increases other spells, like "Summon Flame Atronach" I can see the increase on the tool tip.

the mage robe is light armor. my light armor skill always goes up when I'm hit enough by the enemy. I always wear mage clothes. They are light armor.
Nudity is the only option (or regular clothes, according to what I read somehwere)
My Argonian lukes awesome nvde (aka as nvde as the game allows)

to first responder: wat. Wearing all 'clothes' items is considered no armor.

OP: Yes, the tooltip is bugged and doesn't read properly. The mage armor perk works. To see how much armor you're actually getting, go into inventory -> apparel and mouse over any item.
I currently get 250 AP with ironflesh and The Lord sign.

Careful, though - damage reduction is much more dependent on block in this game than armor. That is, 250 AP doesn't seem to be much actual DR. Which is why so many people have been crying foul over the alteration tree.
