Mage Build Advice?

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 12:44 am

Only 4 items get this enchant? What 2 items can't get it? This is very helpful info, thanks. I don't want this to be COMPLETELY overpowered so I think I'll plan to only get 50% Magika reduction for 4 Schools of magic(75% total because of the Magika Reduction perks in each school tree).
Here's a good reference:

Technically it is 5 items. Feet, shields, and arms can't have the enchant. Only, head, neck, and ring -- but you can have two rings. That gets you 2 free schools and another with a -50% cost, or 3 with a -75% cost (and with perks that can reduce it to a -12.5% cost).

You can't equip two rings, you might be playing with a mod that allows this and just forgot.

Oh really? I just assumed you could honestly since D&D set the standard ages ago and almost every game follows it -- I was fairly sure past TES games allowed two rings as well.

Well, I retract that then.

Depends on how you use Conjuration.

If you are summoming daedra or undead, you won't be fighting so much yourself.

If you are using summoned weapons, you will, of course, be fighting.

Alteration is excellent for protection and avoiding the annoyance and encumberance of armor. It's especially nice for my Breton characters because of the added magic resistance with their inherent MR.

Enchanting depends on how you want to use it, just as with Conjuration. Use it to support however you are using Conjuration (i.e., if you use summoned weapons, you probably don't need enchanted weapons, but enchanted clothing is still very helpful, or if you summon daedra/undead, then enchanted weapons + enchanted clothing).

I'm all about being a Mage. I choose Breton everytime I make a new character. Maybe I'm a little racist, but they are the Mage's along with the Altmer.

Anyways, I specialize in Destruction, Restoration, Conjuration, Sneak, and One Handed.

I love shock spells and bound sword along with soul trap, not really for enchanting but because I love to trap my enemies souls. Oh, and I try to throw in some necromancy.

Spoiler
I rock the Archmages Robes and carry the Black Star form of Azuras Star.

Lydia is my awesome warrior sidekick.
