main quest after civil war (spoilers inside)

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 12:16 am

has anyone sided with the storm cloaks then decided to wait until they have taken over whiterun before going to bleakfall barrows for the dragon stone? If so who do you turn it into? Or will this bug the quest and make the main quest locked?

Skyrim's design should allow someone else to take over and you turn the quest in for them instead... I won't be able to find out until after the next patch for sure though as the Civil War questline doesn't work AT ALL for me so far...

That is what I am wondering I guess i should just continue the civil war quest up to that point then make more than one save just in case. I am hoping it just shifts with who gives the quest I think it would be awesome to see an alternative play out with vignar greymane sending me to kill the first dragon.

You can't do this. You have to complete Dragon Rising in the Mq before the civil war will advance to the battle for whiterun.

Well that seriously blows hardcoe since I refuse to advance the mq until I fight dragons with my next character... I want to avoid the dragons altogether with her until I get around to deciding to go ahead and finish out her story... And she's already joined the Stormcloaks... Well I guess I shall see soon...

yeah I did all the way up to delivering the message for ulfric to the jarl of whiterun the jarl says he refuses to give an answer until the dragon situation is dealt with.

What about the truce meeting thing? Can you end the war before it happens and there's no need to walk the seven [censored] thousand steps just to talk to some old fart TWICE?

A work around is to advance the MQ to the first quest with Delphine. I think it's "a blade in the dark" or something, the one where you go with her to watch the dragon get resurrected then fight it. Anyways, while this quest is active no random dragons will spawn. So you could get to this point, do the civil war and anything else and not deal with random dragons until you finish it. It's not exactly what you want but the closest I can come up with.

I liked handling the civil war after the main quest, Give me a decent opportunity to use those shouts like Call Dragon.

I was hoping to actually bypass the MQ for a good long time, but was curious if you could take over whiterun before dealing with dragons, but you cannot so I will just let both quest lines simmer unfinished for a good while as my bringer of discord and chaos continues on his merry way.

Yeah you must complete dragon rising, BUT after I completed the battle for whiterun Faerangar ( is that how you spell it) was still there.
