Started Dragonborn and was doing the main quest up to the point were you enter the skaal village and decided to leave it at that. Began exploring the island and completed a few side quests, then last night I thought I'd go back to doing the main quest.

Upon entering the village all the npc characters stood up and just would not stop attacking me and now thanks to that I can't finish the main quest for the dlc.

Honestly as much as I love skyrim and can't help but feel let down that I now can't complete the dlc with my character that I have used since skyrims release.

If anyone does know of a fix, it would be appreciated if you could post it in this thread.

Edit: Managed to find a fix thanks to ashleyclark. Anyone else who is experiencing a similar problem, check to see if you have a bounty if you don't force one then pay it off and then it should resolve the issue of been attacked by npc.

Hopefully bethesda will release a patch to resolve this issue along with the bugs/glitches brought up by other forum members.

Not that I'm aware of, will have to check. Can that be a cause though seems strange how a bounty can affect non guard characters :/.

Happens alot in Skyrim. Had a bounty once, did not know it, went to join the DG, and all they did was start wailing on me. I ran like the devil. lol

lol well I checked and I had no bountys so I intentionally attacked a guard and payed off the bounty. After which I travelled back to skyrim, moved around the various provinces and then headed back to solstheim, finally heading back to the skaal village and praise the divines they left me alone.

It seems fixed for now however which fixed it, the intentional bounty or leaving the island to return back I'm not sure, however thank you for the help . I still hope they release an update as there seems to be quite a few bugs/glitches been reported.

I have a major problem with 2 of my characters, and before anyone says start a new game, that is not an option one of my characters i have poured 300 hours worth of gameplay into, i'll be damned if im starting that all over again.

I've just downloaded the Dragonborn DLC so i got the cultists attacking me upon loading and got their orders (this happened on both characters. I wanted to finish of a few things with the Hearthfire dlc before i started Dragonborn so i started upon that. Now when look at my quest log the dragonborn quest is gone and when i read the cultists orders it reads "Board the vesssel Northern Maiden docked at Raven Rock. Take it to Windhelm, then begin your search. Kill the False Dragonborn known as............." my characters names are both missing.

Is this a common bug has it happened to others please let me know? Does anyone know anything i could try to do to fix this?

Do not know. What alot of people have been doing, me included, is shutting off all autosaves, clearing the cache 3x, and keeping the hard saves down to 6. Do not know if it will help in your case or not, but who knows. It seems as though this is been working for alot of people.

Not sure about a fix for this. All I can suggest is try re-downloading the dlc or clear the cache on your Hdd.

Im haveing the same problem, i just posted about it. Basicly the girl "Frea" who you speak with at the temple is KOS to me for no reason. tried reloading time after time. im not a vamp , no bounty nothing. quest is just broke

It's an annoying bug for sure. Try forcing a bounty by attacking a guard near raven rock then pay off the bounty in full and hopefully this should resolve the issue.
