Although I've knocked out a huge list of completed quests the remainders just can't be done until the developers release a fix or straight up state that something won't be fixed.
The lingering list:
Find Helm of Winterhold inside Yngol Barrow - Bought the coral claw from the shopkeeper but sold it off long ago. Although random sites indicate one could be found in the dungeon there's nothing but over-eager will-o-whisps for company.
Find the Copy of N'Gasta! Kvata! Kvakis! - I'd already cleared the dungeon and retrieved the book prior to receiving the quest and the quest marker still points to the chest although the book is in my inventory.
Give Rjorn's Drum to Giraud - Poor old Giraud was killed by an Ancient Dragon. Hard to complete that quest considering his plight.
Bring one Amulet of Arkay to Torbjorn - No amulet to be found and no quest marker. I was able to locate and steal one but it doesn't allow the quest to progress to completion.
Defeat Hofgrir in an unarmed brawl - I stepped through the dialog and he was all eager to fight but the quest won't trigger to allow me to beat him down. He'll remark in random comments about it but is too much of a puss to take it like a man, I guess.
Speak to Degaine - I had completed the Diabella quest in Markarth and never initiated the quest to retrieve the statue for him. Although I still have 2 statues on hand he would only ever ask for a drink or money. He eventually died and left me a 100 gold inheritance. Probably the amount I gave him while trying to engage him in starting the quest. RIP you sodden drunk.
Investigatge the Bards College - Although I've completed the Bard's quests and am now an honorary Bard this quest marker still remains and the two remaining dialog options with the quest giver does not allow me to progress/complete this quest.
Escort Telrav to his Camp - Well..I do have to admit that after getting my [censored] handed to me the first time I followed him I opted to kill him the second time around right before we reached the camp. I still ended up taking the bandts down but since I killed him two steps away from the trigger point this quest is still marked as incomplete. Whatever. He had it coming to him, anyway.
Arniel's Endeavor - So I was able to heat the soul gem in the first convector but all subsequent attempts at any of the other convectors around Skyrim do nothing to progress this quest. I could've popped a lot of popcorn in those convectors whilst dwindiling away my mana bar in hopes that it would update. Alas, no.
Being that I'm such an eager beaver to complete my miscellaneous quests (there are still some that I can actually complete or haven't progressed enough through to discover a bug) I'd love to knock these bugged ones out even though the main story line has reached its conclusion. Sure, I've still got to take sides and fight the Civil War, buy a house in Windhelm and complete my set of Barenziah stones but it's pretty disheartening knowing that some of these quests cannot be completed due to the their current broken state.
If a quest can't be completed, such as Giraud being killed, at least build the option into the game to allow the player to remove the quest from the active quest list or auto-complete the quest and mark it as failed in some way. Same goes for inventory quest items that have no business hanging out in my inventory, such as the Bard instruments. Fix Shadowmere. If Shadowmere is going to be killed at least allow the horse to re-incarnate back at the pool outside the original Brotherhood cave. It's frustrating appearing in a Forsworn camp and watching that beauty get beat down by some thuggish Briar heart biznatch.
Otherwise, as fun and gorgeous as the game was prior to completing the main storyline, it's time to shelf it and hope that in a few months the fixable bugs are indeed fixed in a future patch. I do look forward to any DLCs that, as someone out there requested, might actually take an existing storyling and progress it vs. introducing new content. E.g. a DLC that allows us to lay the smack down on the snooty elves, restore Winterhold, provide us with a farmstead with a working smithy instead of only giving us an option of living in a house within the citylimits, expand on the Dwemer storyline or devise some way to redeem the Falmir and allow them to crawl back out of their dark caves and rediscover the dignity they once held...the possiblities are endless.
I have to say that compared to other games out there I actually felt like I got my money's worth out of this one but the bad taste of broken quests definitely dampens the eagerness to continue playing, right now.
Oh yeah, this was all played on the 360. I suppose I should at least include that relevance in regards to the quest bugs even though they're likely not platform specific.
