Major Bug: Music Crash

I posted this in the topic "Unofficial Creation Kit Bug List #2", but I felt that it's serious enough that I should post a topic about it.

Given the horrific bugs in the CK, I like to just play around with the Creation Kit for fun. I loaded it up and decided to create an NPC, duplicate three music tracks and add new conditions to ensure they play when fighting him. When I tried to save, however, the game crashed.

Minutes later, I remember that I had not added the tracks into my new music type. I decided to load up the CK and redo the music only, with the same tracks and conditions, and remembered this time to add the tracks into my music type. But even then, it still crashed on saving.

When I got up just now, I decided to try again. It crashed on save again.

The fact that this bug has happened to me three times in a row seem to suggest that this bug is easily repeatable and serious. It will prevent modders from reusing vanilla tracks or making new music tracks for their mod.

Bump. Modders should see this if they are thinking of re-using vanilla tracks or making new ones.

Extra BUMP (this is does not help my teeth grinding problems :wallbash: ).

I'm also adding more detail here from my testing since like you said I think this is big enough it needs as many of its own threads as it takes to get some action. I'm sure some of this has shown up elsewhere but I haven't seen it all condensed into a single post yet after hours of reading. I have managed to track some behavior that should be very helpfull to any dev's trying to track this bugger down (pun intended). Espcially since there is a CTD ingame issue linked in with this as well for any newly added music tracks.

It appears that each time you load up an esp where you have added new music tracks the CK "forgets" the file paths or at least if you open up your custom tracks the listing for the file will be blank (granted this is just like all the built in tracks) but this is the source of the crash. If you repoint the record to your file again then the CK will no longer crash on save. Needless to say no way that is going to be happening each and every time (this is true whether you add a new track or replace a file ref in a venilla music track).

Furthur I have found that if you create a new music track the game will CTD the instant it tries to play that track. I've taken the same files and replaced the file refs in venilla tracks and they will then play fine in game.
