My mom got me this game for my birthday, but since she's cheap as [censored], she got it Pre-Owned. There's no scratches, just some wear-n-tear stuff like fingerprints. I've cleaned the disc probably 4 times, but still crashes every 45 minutes to an hour. I'm fine with a few freezes, as frustrating as they are, but I ran into 2 game-breaking crashes...

CRASH 1:
Whenever I go into the Mojave express building in Primm to recover ED-E, it becomes a black screen without any HUD, only a playing radio (even if my Pip-Boy's radio is off). I can't press the PS button, so it's a whole console Freeze, and to make it worse, ED-E's perk is the only one I actually want...

CRASH 2:
After getting to Novac about 4 hours into the game, I accepted the quest to search around the REPCONN area from the sniper in the dinosaur head (Forgot his name and the quest name...). Whenever I go over there and get to the small encampment with the chessboard and bed, I encounter some kind of freeze. Whenever I went there, I would try to sleep, which it would freeze after selecting the time interval. Then I decided to wait an hour to put an autosave up so I could try multiple times, hoping I would get lucky, but it crashed in the wait screen. Then I decided to ignore the bed (used 2 stimpaks too) and just save for good measure, but it crashed when I selected Save from the Start Menu. I'm pretty sure that means I'm screwed for the rest of the game...

Would you recommend me returning the game and getting a new copy, or would it not matter?

No, it wouldn't matter. Did you patch the game?

Yeah. My Ps3 automatically patched it when the latest patch came out (Feb. 18 I think).

Mine has been freezing even more often since I downloaded the DLC "Dead Money". I haven't even started playing that DLC yet, as I can't seem to get there because the game freezes and I have to re-start.

You should try restarting the game, trust me it works but is very annoying as you have to do all the boring stuff again.

Try deleting the game data utility, then see if it plays any differently. Then re-install all the patches and see what happens.

I haven't downloaded Dead money yet, but I do plan on it :/

Ok I deleted the utility data, but the same stuff happens. I'm just gunna return FONV and save for Skyrim I guess... Are you 100% positive that a new copy would eliminate the problem?
