Major graphics problems

Post » Fri May 18, 2012 9:20 pm

hey guys,

yesterday I bought Skyrim via Steam and installed it. from the start I experienced some heavy graphic issues, like there were some textures laying and standing all around the world. two screenshots:

those green areas are not flickering or anything and I can walk through them. I tried to update my drivers, both notebook and graphics board, changed detail level from minimum to maximum, flipped around some resolutions, nothing happened. anyone experienced anything like this? do you have any clue about it and is abled to provide me some help? that'll be great!

my system:
HP Pavilion dv6 3298eg.
intel I5 2,53 mhz
4 gb RAM
Radeon HD 6550M
windows 7 64 bit.

please please please!

Your 6550m is the problem. Try it on minimal settings @ 1024x768 & see what it does.

Here is a link that lists a lot of mobile v-cards in order from least to best. Least being at the bottom of the list. http://compreviews.about.com/od/video/a/Laptop-Display-And-Graphics-Guide.htm

I think I just replied to you if you already created a thread. Unfortunately, Intel doesn't generally make v-cards capable of handling games like Skyrim.

I'm running skyrim on high with a nvidia gt 330m which is a lower spec card than yours. It should be doable. Have you disabled v-sync and turned down shadows?

thanks for your support, guys, seriously!

unfortunately nothing worked. i tried minimum settings by minimum resolution, no shadows, any available graphics update... the only thing I didn't try was turning off V-sync, didn't find the button for that.

i'm going with reinstallation for now and hope for an update by Bethesda.

alright, i fixed it.

the problem was / is my HP laptop and it's switchable graphics cpu. HP's last driver update is almost one year old and the official radeon drivers do not apply.
so I installed a program called readydriverplus and afterwards the standalone graphics driver by ATI / AMD.
