Post » Tue May 03, 2011 9:16 am

1. framerate drop at the very start of the game(till you leave the house)
2. a radscorpion became a underground scorpion
3. the game has only crashed once in 8 hours

hows everyone else fairing so far this seems like standard affair for a bethesda engine and im enjoying my experience

One crash, alot of hiccups, one or two small freezes, in 6 hours.
If the patch fixes this, then it will be perfect.
The game is enjoyable like this, but with no bugs...
Dear god.

It would be nice if you could add the system you're playing on. ;)

well those were typical bugs in FO3, but also very typical for every game that comes out at first. So if those are the only major bugs it sounds like NV will be pretty good as far as bugs are concerned. As for the gamesas engine, the only reason that they seem to have more bugs than others is that they are doing more complicated things than other engines do.

It's going to take ages to get the patch on the consoles... Dosen't it have to go through all sorts of crap before we actually get it. Wish it was easy like it is for PC. PC got a patch if anyone is not aware.

17 hours played. PC version.

1) Bark scorpion became stuck on terrain and became invincible.
2) Major framerate issues, especially around NPCs. Fixed using d3d9.dll fix.
3) Weapons were not returned after exiting the Tops casino. Reloading did not help. Weapons reappeared in my inventory sometime later.
4) 4 crashes to desktop. 2 reproduced the same way, trying to talk to a random no name NPC at a certain spot. The other 2 were random.
5) Recruited a companion
Spoiler
Rex
and told them to wait in a building. I went to another building in town and certain NPCs acted like the companion was still with me. In addition, I kept the companions perk, even when they were not with me.

Those are the only bugs I have run into so far.

12 hours-xbox
1 epic game freeze
my arms randomly flail about the screen 60% of the time
enemies constantly falling into rocks
Missing texture for my weathered 10mm pistol rendering it unusable (cool huh?)
Drastic load times fluctuations.

Also more complicated things? I beg to differ. The engine is simply buggy and outdated. It's been used since Oblivion.

6 Hours played. PC Version

1) Textures on Boone's beret freaked out. Might be gone when I start the game again.

That's it.

apparently the missing texture on the pistol is caused by using a mag mod on it

I got 18 hours, and about 2 bugs also.....it's not the quantity of bugs that bother me. It's the severity of them -- one in particular is the save bug, the other is random FPS drops from 80+ to a crawling 8-10fps mostly when a NPC starts shooting(sli 8800gtx's) . Other than that I love this game.

6 Hours Played
PC, Intel Core2 Quad Q9550 2.83GHz, 8GB RAM, NVIDIA GTX 280
No crashes

Bugs:
1. Found Victor in a big depression in the mountainside to the northwest of the large cross thing that you can see from the starter town. He was surrounded by Giant Radscorpions but wasn't fighting or being attacked. I killed the scorpions and talked to him and the game now thinks he is my companion (I get the companion wheel when I click on him) even though I already have a companion
Spoiler
Boone

Also, he won't follow me and when I initiate dialog with him he thinks he is still in
Spoiler
Novac

2. Graphics stuttering when around lots of NPCs.

3. Got my foot stuck in a toilet (again). Luckily I had just saved (as I always do before climbing on top of them for that very reason).

4. The patron in the Saloon in the starter town sometimes spawns inside the bar and spins in circles.

5. Attacked and killed several Legionaries but they keep showing up as friendlies. This is even after
Spoiler
one of their death squads chased me down and told me their boss put a contract on my head

6. Playing cards vanish into thin air if you place them in a container and then try to take them back out again.

7. When I try to create a Caravan deck the cards shuffle around crazily when I use my left and right arrow keys.

8. Sometimes when trying to hack a terminal my mouse clicks do not register. Especially when trying to skip the little "Logon admin blah blah blah" thing at the start.

9. Workbenches and other craft things have a bug where if you move the cursor over the ingredients list it causes a loud squeal like a molerat having its balls twisted off. Also if you scroll through any ingredients on that side (on one that has enough ingredients to generate a scroll bar) it renders the workbench unusable and you have to close it and reopen it.

10. Inventory issues: A single 10mm pistol in my inventory turns into two 10mm pistols when I try to place it in a container. In other words, I click the pistol to place it in the container and a pistol shows up in the container but I still see a pistol in my inventory. If I click the same pistol again it vanishes from my inventory but doesn't appear in the container. The "magic" pistol that appears in my inventory when this happens is 100% CND. If I throw the "magic" pistol on the ground and take the normal one from the container then pick the "magic" pistol back up, the "magic" one vanishes into thin air.
Spoiler
This was tested on several containers in the Novac area and in the hotel room there that the player can rent.

11. Not really a bug per se but I've noticed a lot of places that are inaccesible if you are encumbered. I remember in Fallout 3 I was impressed by the thought that went into making everywhere accessible even if the player was encumbered. I guess they tossed that policy out the window with New Vegas... Pity.

 Wait. Why are you climbing on top of toilets? Even better, why do you keep climbing on top of toilets? What is so important about toilet climbing that you are willing to risk getting stuck and make preparations by saving before hand, just so you can proceed with the climbing of the porcelain? I . . . I - Why? I just . . .

Sometimes they have traps or items in the tanks that you can't easily see unless you look down into them.

Xbox 360:

NPCs like to walk into walls :D
With the varmint rifle it will appear to be higher in first often while jumping/switching between 3rd & 1st person view.
I don't remember her name, but the old lady with all of the dogs at the junkyard actually teleported to the back exit of Helios One... Her dogs became hostile and spawned with a bunch of mole rats... at first it was just some invisible blockage, then the animals spawned, then a few entrances/exits later she became visible, sitting in an invisible chair with a bunch of invisible objects and one non hostile dog... I laughed my ass off.

Here is a save file to demonstrate the "Magic" 10mm Pistol issue I mentioned in my previous post above. In case a dev (or anyone) cares to look into it...

I have the Caravan Steam pre-order pack loaded too.

Im playing on a very high-end PC and maybe put in 18 hrs. the past two days. I have a laundry list of problems.

1. By far the worst is the game save problem...quick and auto saves disappear from my previous gaming sessions so i have to HARD save alot and especially when i exit the game. The game only recognizes the auto and quick save from my very first session. This svcks b/c im not used to hard saving...only when i come to a real important descision/battle.

2. I do get the occasional game crash out to windows and the session can not be restored...this combined with problem #1 is EXTREMELY frustrating...for example just 5 minutes ago the game crashed and i lost about 1.5hrs of gameplay at the ghoul rocket facility ( the biggest indoor area ive seen so far in the game...damnit! ) I was in such a zone looting and killing S. mutants that I forgot to hard save and was only using quick save the whole time ( its gonna be a pain to break this habit )

3. the mouse sensitivity is far greater in menus that it is in-game....finding the right balance between the two is a compromise to say the least.

4. some items I posess in my inventory dont show up when in the barter scrren when i want to sell / repair them

5. when at the workbench and move the mouse cursor over the list of ingredients needed to make something there is a loud buzzing sound and that list freezes

I really want to love this game but these problems are spoiling the experience for me. The world is huge and has so much to do/collect/kill. I'm not even close to being ready to tackle the strip yet. With that being said I'm very disappointed with the state of the PC version of this game. I'm a loyal Bethesda gamer and this is the first time i've gotten a real sour taste in my mouth from one of their games. I sincerely hope they put out a patch to address these problems and others in the next few days.

Same here. I actually have my Quicksave mapped to my middle mouse button for extreme saving goodness hehe. I got around the problem with Steam saves overwriting my quick and auto saves by running Steam in offline mode (Click the Steam menu option and select "Go Offline"). Problem with that is it will still overwrite your saves when you exit the game (oddly not always) but I just hard save before I exit. If I crash (hasn't happened yet *fingers crossed*) or forget to hard save I just make a copy of the saves folder before going back in and if Steam arses up my saves I have a backup I can use. Has worked pretty well so far.
