I have ebony armor. I could make it Legendary now or later.

If I make it Legendary now and if I put the Legendary Ebony Armor into the Atronach Forge with the other ingredients, will it come out Legendary Daedric Armor or plain Daedric Armor?

I'd like to upgrade the ebony armor and use it now (if I can) while I gather the items for the Daedric armor. Or do I have to wait?

Not positive but I think it comes out as regular Daedric armor.

In goes Legendary and out comes regular?

Yeah, the outcome is just regular unimproved armor.
As I said though, I'm not 100% on that.

Then I'll save the Blacksmith Elixor then.

but hey to upgrade deadric you only need 1 ebony per armor

Your boots won't work. So don't bother. Put your ebony on a display case or something and create a new one.
