Making dragons slightly tougher by...

.... having them pickup and drop creatures on you.

I play on Master level, generally as a caster (second time through). I find that if I keep away from the dragon, and let my follower, conjured atronach, and nearby NPCs tank, I can kill it without worry. They don't feel dangerous enough for what they are.

The strafing attack they do is good, but I don't get hit by it very often.

Therefore I think it would be fun to have them light up some hapless creature, possibly spawned just to be a victim, pick it up, then have it try to drop it on you. Since you might not always see it coming, have the victim screaming all the way down.

Also, I think they should bite and throw NPCs much more often. Maybe when they do that it doesn't have to be 1-hit fatal so you don't have to reload if Lydia gets munched.

Finally, I think I've seen them smack with their tails, but seldom does anyone go flying. I'd prefer those not be instant kill, but I'd like to see that more often.

I agree they should be tougher, and I think I'd do it by making them one-hit-kill capable.

I generally play as a "skirmisher" type character or as an assassin/thief, in either case using a bow and preferring not to go melee if I can help it.

For dragon fights, I take cover to avoid their breath and poke out to fire arrows. Rinse, repeat as needed.

However, if they were actually one hit capable, say being able to pick you and drop you if you're out in the open or being able to do one of the big "munch" attacks with their jaws, they'd be far more fearsome.

Note that they can already one-hit munch you. It has happened to me. I'd rather those not be one-hit, and happen more often all around to really give the feeling that they are tearing things up.

I'd like to see them increase the speed between animations, and make them do the strafe attack more frequently. I'd also like them to swoop down and try to grab you in their talons.

Although one hit kills probably make more sense, it's more frustrating than difficult. I'd rather more consistently high damage, fast attacks that give you little time to react.
