Making Game Map area bigger, larger world size. Help.

Post » Wed Jun 20, 2012 4:41 pm

When using tab to view the ingame map the map size, as in the area the camera can roam around is limited to roughly Skyrim size or a little bigger. I need to open this up quite a lot, I dont know if its an ini setting but does anyone know how to make the ingame map viewing area larger so that players can move across the entire 16x16 quad world.

Try mucking about with some of these INI (Skyrim.ini) keys:
'fMapLocalHeight:MapMenu',0 'uLockedTerrainLOD:MapMenu',0 'uLockedObjectMapLOD:MapMenu',0 'fMapLocalGamepadZoomSpeed:MapMenu',0 'fMapLocalMouseZoomSpeed:MapMenu',0 'fMapLocalGamepadPanSpeed:MapMenu',0 'fMapLocalMousePanSpeed:MapMenu',0 'fMapLocalMarkerSelectionDist:MapMenu',0 'fMapLocalMinFrustumWidth:MapMenu',0 'fMapTransitionSpeed:MapMenu',0 'fMapWorldMinPanSpeed:MapMenu',0 'fMapWorldMaxPanSpeed:MapMenu',0 'fMapWorldZoomSpeed:MapMenu',0 'fMapWorldMinHeight:MapMenu',0 'fMapWorldMaxHeight:MapMenu',0 'fMapWorldInitialPitch:MapMenu',0 'fMapWorldMinPitch:MapMenu',0 'fMapWorldMaxPitch:MapMenu',0 'fMapWorldYawRange:MapMenu',0 'fMapWorldHeightAdjustmentForce:MapMenu',0 'fMapLookMouseSpeed:MapMenu',0 'fMapLookGamepadSpeed:MapMenu',0 'fMapZoomMouseSpeed:MapMenu',0 'fMapMoveKeyboardSpeed:MapMenu',0 'fMapMenuNearClipPlane:MapMenu',0 'fMaxMarkerSelectionDist:MapMenu',0 'fGamepadCursorSensitivity:MapMenu',0 'fMapWorldCursorMoveArea:MapMenu',0 'fMapLocalCursorPanSpeed:MapMenu',0 'fMapLoopFadeTimeSeconds:MapMenu',0 'sMapWorldDefaultWorldSpace:MapMenu',0 'sMapCloudNIF:MapMenu',0 'fMapWorldTransitionHeight:MapMenu',0 'sWorldMapOverlayNormalTexture:MapMenu',0 'sWorldMapOverlayNormalSnowTexture:MapMenu',0 'fMapMenuOverlayNormalStrength:MapMenu',0 'fMapMenuOverlayNormalSnowStrength:MapMenu',0 'fMapMenuOverlayScale:MapMenu',0 'fMapMenuOverlaySnowScale:MapMenu',0 'fWorldMapFocalDepth:MapMenu',0 'fWorldMapMaximumDepthBlur:MapMenu',0 'fWorldMapDepthBlurScale:MapMenu',0 'fWorldMapNearDepthBlurScale:MapMenu',0 'iRightStickRepeatRate:MapMenu',0 'bWorldMapNoSkyDepthBlur:MapMenu',0

Got it sorted. Despite looking blanked out and useless, the worldspace map selection in the CK does actually work. Default settings for Skyrim are somewhere around -30 to 30. Mine is -256 to 256, so changing the values in there opens the expanse of the heightmap. One thing I will say is that changing the map scale from 1.0000 to any other value throws out the my location marker. I set it to 0.7000 to make more of the map visible, it did but my location was off by about by quite some distance, it lagged behind quite a lot. When I was standing in the mountains it showed me in a river some distance away. Basically leave it.
