Male Altmer (proportional weight)

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 9:32 am

Just want to know where to put the weight slighter so that my high elf looks natural. Since they are so tall I doubt that leaving it centered will yield a good look. I have this problem with going to big or too small with him. Help a bro out?

Supposedly, the Height and Weight of your character influences how fast you can run and how hard you hit with melee, and how much you stagger and are staggered. From what i've heard, the taller your race, the faster they run, and the heavier the build they have, the more damage and staggers they do, while being staggered less. Not 100% sure it's true, but i have noticed that my Nord Warrior does do staggers more, and get's staggered less than my Dunmer Nightblade, even without his Heavy Armor on.
It kind of makes sense too, considering the length of your legs has alot to do with how fast you can run, which High Elves are the tallest with the longest legs. Not to mention a Nord or Orc at full weight looks like a NFL linebacker on steroids, so it makes sense for them to dish out more damage and be able to knock crap around, while being a brick wall of resistance. It's supposedly like 8% faster running for Altmer, and 8% more Damage/Stagger/Stagger Resistance for heavy Nords/Orcs. Only way to find out for sure though is with the Creation Kit when it's released.

In Oblivion the altmer did go a little faster than everyone else at max speed because they were so tall. dunno about SKyrim, trying to stay in the dark with this game, but I man I just want to know where to put it so he doesn't look goofy. It's a cosmetic thing for me.

The char creation meters affecting anything seems unfounded to me. Evidence? Seems like BS to me.

Well, it depends on what you think is a good look and on what type of character you have. For a Mage I would always go on the thinner end of the slider. The very first position on the slider is very thin, and I personally don't like it, but that is just my opinion.
Just go with what you like! It's your game and YOU have to enjoy it!

Yeah I just seem to either get a big torso with some gumby looking arms, or a guy that looks like he hangs out with Jose Consanco too much. I just want a nice average looking build.

My advice would be to just stick it slightly higher than the middle and call it a day. With all of the different armor and clothes in the game, I'd think his weight would carry less of an emphasis the longer you play. Just my two cents.

Also, if one were to compare a Breton female and Altmer male, I've definitely noticed a slight difference in movement speed. Anything in between those two extremes have been negligible for me, though.
