Maramal

Post » Thu Jun 21, 2012 8:59 am

This is just irritating to say the least, first off...

Alright my Nord is LV50 with 100+ hrs in now and I went to the Temple of Mara in Riften to talk about Marriage for the Achievement. No matter how many times I wait/sleep Maramal is NEVER EVER in the frikkin' Temple. So I talked to the Dark Elf lady.. did her really annoying quest to help the lovers or w/e.. and that gave me no marriage dialogue whatsoever.

BUT, I just recently started my new char. a Dark Elf and I went to Riften for some quest related things and go into the Bee and Barb. And he's RIGHT there...

My question is this: Does this dude simply NOT leave the Bee and Barb until you go in there and listen to him ramble on about Dragons? If so.. that's unrealistically redundant.

He's preaching in the Bee and Barb. If you stick around, you'll hear Talen-Jei (I think that's his name) ask him to stop. True, I wish he went back to the temple after the first time you hear him, but it's still a nice touch to hear him preach to the people.

In my games Maramal has always been at the temple after the first time I go into the Bee and Barb. I don't have to listen to him or interact with him at all.

I was so pissed.. I was gonna play my Dark Elf but loaded my Nord instead to try and get this over with. SURE NUFF this dude was in the Bee and Barb THE WHOLE TIME! >.<

That's so stupid.. what if you didn't KNOW he was in the Bee and Barb and wanted to Wed? You'd be looking ALL over Riften.. that's so stupid.

Does he literally stay in there til you go in? If so.. again stupid.

This can be locked though, finally got it going.. Natas and Aela are planned to Wed!!! :D

I hear him doing his silly stuff in the Bee and Barb when I run in there to talk to Sapphire, Aladrea Ael'Tor, and Talen-jei, picking up quests. After that, I never see him again, because I never go into the Temple of Mara for any reason.

You say 'all over Riften' like that's hours of searching. Who doesn't go to the Bee and Barb first anyway?

Well.... I don't.... I only go there when I'm ready to pick up quests from folks there - while dodging Brynjolf so I don't have to get locked into never-done TG stuff. THAT flat pisses me off - there's NO REASON to have made it so there's no way to simply NEVER have TG anything in my quest log.... /grumble.... Damn devs and their "my way or the highway" crap.

Or, you know, they wanted to let you know you could do it.

It's one itsy-bitsy miscellaneous objective: "Listen to Brynjolf's scheme."

Please don't blow a gasket, or blow it out of proportion.

I used to be overly anol about things in the quest log.

And then I realized that, deep down, I don't really care.

***

Now, Maramal sometimes won't trigger his speech, and so will not leave the tavern, but when that happened, I came back later and he left properly.

However, if he is in the Bee and Barb, he can still be spoken to about marriage and he should still conduct the wedding ceremony.

Oh, and if you were trying to put the moves on Dinya... she's Maramal's pregnant wife.

Same here, I NEVER go to the Bee and Barb unless I necessarily have to. And most of the time it's just for that part in the TG. As my Nord.. Riften is like one of the Top 3 cities I don't visit that often.

Whiterun, Windhelm, and Markarth mostly for me. My fav. cities anyway..

But you do go there to get quests, so...

You can talk to Brynjolf and tell him "no" and IIRC the quest update goes away. I don't see what's the big deal about it anyway. The DB, civil war and MQ quests stay open forever if you don't do them, either.

Actually, mine went away in my chick's game. I'm not sure that I'm even gonna' do it in that game, but the "Join the Stormcloaks." and "...Imperial Legion." are gone from her Journal. I even tested it by entering both types of camps and get no special reaction. ...but A Chance Arrangement remains in my dude's journal - I have no intention of doing TG on him so I'm guessing it will remain forever.

On my chick's character I've got a Dibella Statue near the bed in each house and one in storage for if/when I buy the Windhelm house.
