Markarth, WHY?

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 12:26 pm

I was pardoned during the Forsworn Conspiracy and yet, the guards seem to still want to take me to jail. I thought this was fixed in the 1.03 patch? Everyone in Markarth know I was pardoned but the guards. I slaughtered every last Forsworn in the prison and yet, the guards fight me. They won't even look the other way. Anybody have a fix for this?

I'm playing on PC just so you knows.

I guess I can go sell my stolen good, which at the moment I have few of and go to jail.

I was so disgusted with the bugginess and overall lack of choice in that particular quest that I left Markarth once it was finished and never looked back.

Did you kill the guards? I feel like that had something to do with it. Or so I heard. I had no problems in Markarth.

Wait, you can kill the forsworn in prison and get pardoned??

I thought the only way out was to escape with the Forsworn.

Yes, you can kill the Forsworn before you leave the prison.

No, I did not attack or kill any of the guards. Like I said, I slaughtered the Forsworn before we left the prison. Meaning, I had not escaped the prison yet and was still inside of it when I killed them. No guards were harmed.

I just tried to go to jail and the guards won't even take me to jail. I did the Forsworn Conspiracy quest at like level 12 and I'm now 42. I've been back to Markarth a lot and now all of a sudden I'm being threatened.

You could try sneaking back into the Shrine of Talos at night and killing the guards there.(the ones who took you to the mine remain at the shrine).
I've also heard this on the usep.
Once your in the shrine, don't move at all. Don't even sneak or take out your weapon. Don't even have your weapon equipped. The guard will try to arrest you. Make sure you tap a for "i submit take me to jail and "what is the problem". After that, you should see something like this "..." Tap a on that, then ask why they killed Eltyrs. Then instead of I submit, take me to jail, it should say something similar to that. But it still takes you to jail. After that, serve your sentence and voila, your bounty is cleared.

Having not run into this problem myself I can't confirm if it really works.
Though your on the PC the usep has several console command solutions.

you could try:

type "addfac 18aac 1" in the console, this should be one step above neutral.

but save first, in case it makes it worse.

lack of choice? there's lots of things you can do in different ways in that quest...so you must not be familiar with all the options cause that quest has more than a few ways of doings, everything from the way you collect the evidence to who gets killed, and you don't have to follow madonach out of the mine, there's several ways to deal with him and the foresworn...its a good quest.

Dude, go back. The Dwemer city under the Keep is massive and filled with stuff. It's great.

There are numerous bugs with that quest. The best way for me has been to kill the forsworn leader in jail when you're alone with him and then you can escape alone with the key. You're pardonned when you come out and get all your stuff back - at least supposed to! I had to redo it one time because I had not completed the Gauldur Amulet quest and they did not give me back the individual pieces of the amulet (it's like they vanished - could not finish that quest). Annoying as hell. You should finish that whole quest before you go to prison in Markarth.

I'm just not doing the Forsworn Conspiracy quest. Period. I've got this letter from the dude and I haven't even opened it. If he want's something done that badly he can perform the black sacrament to the Night Mother.
