Master difficulty with a mage possible?

A Mage is fine for master. You will be fragile no matter what but with thought, the Mage weapon, you can deal with that and have a fine game.

I found it was too frustrating for my BattleMage so I am running him on expert. He is starting to kick serious ass. ;)

If anything, melee characters have the hardest time on Master. Enemies hit super hard and as a melee character you want to get hit, in order to keep your armor skill rising. A robe-wearing mage (or sneaky thief) can avoid getting hit and attack from a safe distance. So enemies hit harder on Master. So what? Mages and sneakers generally don't get hit.

You have no idea what you're talking about, seriously.

You can spawn them anywhere, it will always place it near you, even if you cast it at a wall, there is always room. Do you mean reanimated undead? You are bringing the enemy back, so they enemy is scaled, therefore as strong as other enemies. Also dremora lords, atronachs and thralls are immensely powerful. You have no idea.

Illusion, if you have the right perks you can use the manipulation spells on anything that isn't immune (dragons are immune etc), so you can fury some enemies and they will kill each other, is that worthless? You can fear an enemy so he cowers and you can kill him. You can calm enemies you don't want to fight. Combine invisibility and muffle then enemies won't detect you.

Why comment if you have no idea.
On master; trying to get high level things to kill each other using frenzy takes a long time. What you basically end up doing then is just waiting for 5-10 mins recasting frenzy again and again till they start dying; especially since the AI autonomously switches targets when something is low on health, even more problematic if they can heal. Its extremely boring to play if you had actually ever tried it.

If you would have played with illusion, you would realise how much [censored] that statement is. The enemies scale with each other, and if you fury the strongest guy, it won't be more than 15 seconds before everything is dead or weakened. Whilst they are doing that, you can nuke them with destruction/archery, throw in some conjures if you want. It just keeps the heat of you, which is useful for a mage, especially on master.

It's not illusion that svcks, it's you using illusion.

Or I could just focus on archery and do it faster than having to focus at four-five separate skills at once  Point doesn't change; its boring.

I am about to start a new playthrough at master difficulty with no fast travel (the post about it convinced me  ). I just wanted to know, as I read from multiple places that mages are not viable, if playing a mage would be impossible. I was hesitating between an orc warrior tank or a breton conjurer/destruction. Any advice would be welcomed as I want this playthrough to be difficult but not impossible. Thanks in advance.

I enjoy a mage on Master diff very much. I find it thrilling to be as fragile as I am in a robe, having to kite around, keeping up summons or reanimations, using Illusion and Destruction tactically, healing a follower if I have one, and managing my magicka pool all the while. If that appeals to you, you'll like it.

I use Conjuration/Destruction/Illusion/Restoration in that order of importance. I haven't even bothered with Alteration, Alchemy or Smithing (since I wear robes). I'm leveling Enchanting but its not yet at 100 so I haven't done anything with it yet.

I'd recommend not starting on Master, though. I'd get about 10-15 levels of skill increases so you have gotten at least some perks to help you cope.

I think you're playing the wrong game to be honest...

Your point is nothing, you can use illusion on its own to empty a room. If you fury the strongest enemy, he will usually kill all the others, then you can just pick him of. Your just crap using it.

Clearly you're not reading my posts at all
If all you care about is owning X and Y, just turn on tgm.Since I said nothing about illusion being weak, clearly you're just off your socks trying to win an non-existant argument.
Boring is boring.
