Master level spells

Does anyone agree that every master level spell costs a ridiculous amount of magika? Theyre almost pointless to have on the game.

Simple get a high magicka and some good enchantments. They are meant for master mages so they should be difficult to cast.

On my high elf, I enchanted a good bit of my equipment with Fortify Destruction so my cost for any destruction spell is 0. When using the master spells, (I prefer the lightning) I use the Become Ethereal shout before casting. That way, even if I get attacked during the cast, it doesn't land a blow, thus not interrupting my spell. When my spell is cast, the shout wears off and i can blast away!

Paralyzle everyone or go invisible, sneak in, and use it. They're not meant for the middle of a battle, but the initial shock and awe part of it.

Im more bothered by their slow cast time, without using become ethereal the master spells are useless in a battle. It svcks because i cant use them on my pure mage who uses no shouts unless i quickly paralyze everyone then cast a master spell before they wake up

No. I think Harmony is utterly wonderful. The slow cast time does not matter, because you're an Illusionist, so almost certainly invisible. :)

Wow, thanks for the great tip. Can't wait to try it out tonight!

Being a Master Enchanter, such petty problems like Mana Pools have no meaning to me. I use Destruction for free, Conjuration and Illusion for half.

I know about the enchantments and stuff to make them cost less but its just annoying that you basically cant use them without doing a bunch of different stuff first. It would be way more satisfying if i could run up to a bandit and just use a master level destruction spell or any master level spell really.

You can. You would have to be a true Full Mage, which means all your points would go into Magic.

I pretty much agree with some of the others. Master level spells are meant for mages who really depend on magic so you should already have a high amount of magic. If you want to be a mage, then put your points into magic not health/stamina and use some enchantments. If your a battlemage then you wouldn't be using master level spells since they require two hands. As for the long charge times :( nothing to be said really.

These spells fall more into the novelty category, I think.

The lightning one is pretty good. And I can approve of all illusion spells too. Besides them, yes. Master level spells just seem tedious for the amount of effort you put in to get them.

Step 1.. Cast Muffle, then Invisibility.
Step 2.. walk into a big group of enemies and cast Mass Paralysis......................or Alt Step 2.. walk into big group of enemies and cast Mayhem
Step 3.. Cast Blizzard -if you have 0 destruction cost use Lightning Storm- .......or Alt Step 3.. cast Invisibility , go into sneak, sit back and enjoy.

They're great for conjurers though because it lasts forever after you conjure it

here are my main problem with master spells

1) they cost way to much magicka you need enchanting for this
2) they take way long to cast I mean your a mage you can't stand in the middle of battle and cast spell that takes forever to cast
3) the expert spells are almost always better

Oooh, I couldn't leave home without Bane of the Undead. It's a risk to get it cast, what with Deathlord archers and their one shot nastiness, but I just love watching them dance like it's bad acid night down in the crypt.

Master level spells just aren't worth it imo. They take a year, and a half to cast(you're dead before your spell activates), and they cost a ridiculous amount of magicka.

Dragonhide is the worse imo. For a spell thats supposed to protect you its pretty useless. If you use it at the beginning of a fight the long animation can get you killed, and it only lasts 30 seconds(without stability).

The only good master spells, are the thrall spells. Because they last forever.

Edit: And to the people talking about abusing Enchanting. Breaking the game should not be necessary to use a spell. At all.

Lightning storm is boss. I remember devouring a dragon priest in seconds lol (on master). The master spell that annoys the hell out of me is dragonflesh. Casting it mid-battle is futile. And even with stability, it only lasts for 45 seconds, USELESS. If you have the dual casting perk, it last for 99 seconds, which is nice. But to me the only upside to it is the fact that it's the only mage armor that isn't affected by the dragon priest masks (which are considered armor). I don't really have any complaints about the others.

Simple get a high magicka and some good enchantments. They are meant for master mages so they should be difficult to cast.
But they should at least be useful. Pretty much none of the destruction master spells are good, save maybe for Lightning Storm, but even then you're better off stagger locking your foes. The fire and ice spells are pointless, though. Don't bother casting them.

Thralls are okay, if that's your thing. Mostly a playstyle thing, so I really can't ocmplain or agree with them.

Never been a fan of the mage armor spell types, so needless to say dragonskin's kinda underwhelming for me. Maybe if it added some resistances too, but just damage reduction alone? Physical only? I guess maybe for archers, but the only time they're trouble is when they surprise me anyways. Mages always tend to be the real threat to me, regardless of my build.

From what I've heard, the other spells aren't too good either. Maybe Mass Paralyze, but the rest? Eeeeh...

Expert and Adept spells just seem way more useful. Plus, with only those, I can focus less on single school reduction and spread out my fortify enchants, since they don't cost nearly as much to cast.
