Maximum magicka and stamina discussion for all builds.

I have a question.

For basically all sorts of builds, does anyone ever see a need to have more than 300 stamina?

I am level 60, and I have 270 stamina.

I am thinking of stopping at 300, because combined with the extra pockets perk, 500 carry weight has a nice ring to it.

Also, I have never felt like I am running short on stamina after 250.

Now for magicka...

If a player really loves casting and enjoys all schools, where should magicka cease to gain points?

And yes, before everyone says anything about enchanting, I know about the crazy enchanting exploits to make it possible to cast without using any magicka.

I am not big on exploits, however.

As for health, one can never have too much health IMO.

For my mages, I have always just dumped it all in Mag when my HPs reached 200. That is IF I took my HPs pats 150.

I have never put any single level towards Stamina.

Neither have I. So far I've played two melee warriors, both 2-Hand, and am now playing a dual-wield thief/assassin. I have not put a single point into Stamina for any of these characters.

I have yet to find a need. My DW characters don the ring of Namira that is about it.

Wow, you must really use allot of restoration and healing if you never took your HP past 200. Or, you're playing on novice?

I have heard someone say that certain master level spells require up to 500 magicka to cast one time? Is that correct?

All of my mages have been Illusion / Conjurers / Necros. Thus playing a don't "get hit playstyle". I have never really needed much over 300, to be honest. I normally play on Adept, but have recently raised it master. Her HPs may go up just to cover being one shot...well maybe.

She is a character "on hold" right now.

EDIT : I have never spent a perk in Restoration or bought many spells. I play all my characters DID. I basically collect Health Potions. I tend not to use that many of them either.

Never needed much over 300 what?

Magicka or Health?

Originally you said you always kept your health at 200.

Is it true that certain master level spells cost 500 magicka to cast?

If that is the case, I may need to reallocate my attribute points, and take some out of stamina and move to magicka.

We were talking about Magicka. I don't know about the whole super magicka cost. I always wore enchantments to get them down to below 300.

I invested most of my points into Stamina. With ridiculously overpowered armour and weapons from alchemy/smithing/enchanting I have no need to use magic at all, and nothing really harms me with my high armour rating so health isn't much of an issue for me either. Feels like I can keep running forever now.

My last post before you posted "I have never needed much over 300" was about Health and magicka.

Sorry, let me rework this...

Now then.

EDIT: The Master spells range from a base cost of 1200 to over 1300. The only Master Level spell I have ever used was Dead Thrall...that I recall. ( which isn't saying much)

I just really hope that I didn't make a mistake.

I am level 60.

My magicka is at 290, health is at 330, and stamina is at 270.

I was thinking of stopping stamina at 300,

Then pump magicka and health.

That is before I heard that some master level spells can require up to 500 magicka to cast.

I would never want to miss out on any spell. :-(

I am afraid that my health and magicka will not be high enough now, due to too much wasted in stamina.

I just thought 300 would be a perfect stopping point.

I should have taken into consideration that there are ways to fortify your stamina through enchantments, steed stone, etc.

UGH....

They all have around 1100 base cost, so at skill level 100 they cost around 650. With the perk that's halved, and any other fortify skill enchantments you have reduce it further.

Yep. I definitely screwed myself.

I am going to have to pull some points out of stamina later and beef up magicka through the console.
