MDK2 HD on PC only to be available from Beamdog

Why?...

MDK2 HD on PC = awesome news.

Not on Steam and exclusive to some minor obscure digital network?

What?!

That is a ridiculous decision and it has to be questioned as to why you would LIMIT your product to minor sales when you could release it to many thousands more fans on Steam who will never know that it has been retouched and rereleased. The only reason I know is because I soak up every gaming related news story through hundreds of RSS news feeds.

Please rethink the decision to only release the remake on Beamdog ... whoever the heck they are ...

Old news.

Beamdog have their own digital store that they want to grow, there's really no benefit for them to release one of their killer apps on a rival service, at least right away.

At the end of the day though Beamdog is like walking into any retail game store, the prices won't be the same and they might even have different games. The difference is it's easier to "walk into a different store" online than it is in real life.

I'm not posting it as news, I'm annoyed by the lack of thought for gamers who would rather use Steam for all their gaming purchases and simplicity of controlling their collection like myself.

Steam delivers the best experience for gamers, and all these other services keep popping-up promising an alternative great experience and failing to deliver. The only reason they exist is to make money while failing to deliver anywhere near the same experience as Steam can and does.

I am completely biased about Steam because I use the social features for all my multiplayer games, I admit that. It annoys me when people try to sell the benefits of another service for "cheaper games" ... no, actually most of the games that are on other services and not on Steam are usually random tat that is bargain basemant fodder. "no DRM" - who cares? most people are online 99.9% of the time these days, DRM is completely over-exaggerated by nerds.

I wish the guys success with their remake of MDK, but speaking as someone who played the original games at their release times and loved them, I'm not happy, and I won't be until they put the game on Steam to benefit PC gamers.

My comment wasn't directed at you but I assumed you must have posted this because the media was picking up on it now even though it was announced during the reveal, so it was towards the press.

If you really want to play the game but don't want to miss out on the Steam features you could always manually add the game to your Steam account, that way you will still be able to access all the Steam UI stuff in game (Shift + Tab).
