On my very first character I found this stuff in the burned out Helgen when I returned later in game. I recalled what Hadvar had said about them on the wagon ride. I didn't think anything of it and sold them.

Now, several characters later I have a character that is collecting Ales, Wines and such. I also wanted to see if I could give Hadvar a bottle of the stuff if I spoke to him with it in my inventory.

Well I can't seem to find it anymore. I go there with my current character, kill the guards and there is nothing in the house. I reloaded some of my other characters and went back and they can't find it either.

I'm trying to figure out why my first character found it and no one else can. I thought that maybe my first character went back before the bandits spawned there, but really no way to verify that without restarting again. And of course that wouldn't help this current character.

So has anyone found this stuff anywhere else? Is anyone else having trouble finding it in Helgen?

It is in Helgen. If you go back to Helgen, you'll find that it is now occupied by bunch of Bandits. Go up the tower that you ran into at the start and jump out the same hole onto the second storey of the house, and it will be scattered around there. Hope this helps.
