Super Slam is a very useful skill when going up against tougher enemies, unless you have an alternative for knocking people down I really think you should move it up.

perception doesn't have much use.. only one perk worthwhile, better criticals, and the game can certainly be played without it. As a melee, you're going to have a tough time of it without companions. I would consider going with charisma and getting the ferocious loyalty perk. Admittedly your companions will be doing much of the fighting for you though... but that's unavoidable. Seems like to me, only two builds are viable.. the sniping sneak style builds, or the let a companion do the fighting builds.. the main character's armor just seems to be too low to make a solo melee character viable.

I think you might want more Endurance, not everyone will agree but I think it's the most important stat besides Strength for a melee/unarmed build. You will be taking a lot more hits than you would as a gunslinger, so want a big ol' pool of HP to soak them all up with. I always put both STR and END at 9 from the off with my melee/unarmed builds, though admittedly I wouldn't be putting INT up to 10 either. I'd also suggest Stonewall and maybe one or two ranks of Toughness as well.

the main character's armor just seems to be too low to make a solo melee character viable.

Chems are vital for a melee character I find, I use them all the time in this sort of build, they can make all the difference. Paralyzing Palm/Super Slam should help with crowd control too, and you can boost DR plenty with perks. Although I must admit I haven't tried taking on Deathclaws with melee in NV yet, I suspect that's going to be incredibly difficult whichever way I go about it.

superslam and rad child are absolute musts for a melee character, and you will need to stay at deadly or critical rad poisoning level to get the full rad child benefit (+6HP/sec or +8HP/sec regeneration). I would also recommend two ranks of Toughness, plus Stonewall and the sub-dermal implant.

I would not use up a perk with intense training, 9 strength is enough if you get the implant, and I would go with higher luck and lower intelligence. (I went with 10 luck from the starting gate for my melee character and almost every hit is a critical hit). Also built to destroy trait is a good one.

If you get all the skill books that is equivalent to +20 science and +16 for all the other skills. no need to waste SPECIAL on max intel or waste perk on Tag perk.

i don't know why you would need any skill to be 100, especially SPEECH. you can use Party Mentats, Alcohol, naughty nightwear or sixy sleepwear and meeting people magazine if you have a very high speech check. I have never seen any speech check higher than 75 so far. If you're building up your speech, you don't need barter to be very high because most of those checks are either barter or speech. my barter skill is only 9 and i haven't had any difficulty during the game.

Survival you need to get to 70 (56 if you find all 4 Wasteland Survival Guides) in order to get Rad Child.

If you want Jury Rigging you need repair to be at 90 (76 if you find all 4 Dean's Electronics skill books). if you want to unlock certain recipes for crafting, your science may need to be higher

I would not use a perk on Hunter. Entomologist and Purifier are more than enough. There are not too many tough mutated animals, but entomologist helps with Cazadores and Purifier helps with Deathclaws.
