I'm having some trouble with getting the Skyrim menu to come up. When I spark up the game, I can only get to the black background with the dragon symbol. There's no smoke, just the dragon symbol. I tried deactivating all of my mods and re installing numerous times and it didn't help. What should I do?

Remove all traces of mods from your game - especially any files that might still be in the game directories that weren't removed when you uninstalled them. Delete your ini files from my documents, then verify steam cache.
