Merging mods or esp problem

Post » Thu Jun 21, 2012 3:55 pm

Hi fellow modders

I have a strange issue, so Ive created a new worldspace with http://projectmanager.f2s.com/morrowind/TESAnnwyn.html then I've joined this esp with my old one with http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/5064, everything works fine except that I get this error when opening the ck:

http://www.mediafire.com/i/?u9al3uoi3md29fr

But according to the internet thats not a problem.

Everything works fine in the CK and ingame, but when I save and then load I appear in the Riverwood Inn, all times, doesn't matter in what part I saved.

Any ideas of what might be causing the problem?

Note: I can't duplicate the worldspace because CK messes up all the cells:

I have the same save problem. What I do is make the esp in TESAnnwyn, change default land and water heights in the Creation Kit. For me the problem started with the Skyrim 1.5 patch. Haven't taken the time to try out why this problem occurs yet. I have a feeling the solution is probably simple.
I'll do some testing to see if I can figure it out, like with worldspace size, esp/esm, dependecy on Skyrim.esm and or Update.esm. Come to think of it, I don't think my worlds are dependent on the Update.esm, maybe that is actually the reason.

Anyone else have a similar problem and a solution perhaps?

Thanks for the reply.

The more I edit the more I bump into huge bugs that block progression and cancel motivation, I investigate the internet and this problems seem old. I don't want to sound like a "conspiracy guy" but something doesn't feel right, everytime you try to add something that makes a difference its broken, and all we get from Bethesda is silence.

If they wanted us to just make "simple mods" why give us the tools in the first place?

Anyway, any help is appreciated.

-I only noticed this problem now, so the bug is up in 1.6
-My worldspace is small (only 64 cells) so don't loose your time with that
-Regarding dependencies I've tried making my old .esp dependent of the worldspace .esp, this is essential to see your changes in the land, but in this case you have to work in the worldspace esp and not in the original one, it's like this:

IF you merge esp

-You have the save problem

IF you don't merge esp

-Everything seems to work but you must continue work in the new esp (worldspace) and not in your old one, this is bad because you have to distribute more than one esp and because adding new worlds in the future ti's going to be a mess (new esps, work always continues in the last one, etc)

So best solution is to have everything in the same esp.

After some testing this is the best solution so far (for people that have old esp):

-Create the worldspace with tesannwyn
-Open worldspace esp with tesvsnip
-Add 2 new masters, skyrim.esm and your old esp
-In ck open worldspace esp and make it active, it should load skyrim.esm and your old esp
-Continue work in worldspace esp
-GOOD: save now works
-BAD: you have to distribute 2 esps (really bad for steam)

EDIT: forget this, it seems another problem occurs, things created in your old esp and used in the worldspace esp wont appear ingame :(
EDIT 1: forget the forget, didn't show because all meshes have to be in Data/Meshes/.... Oh God, why cant this be easy?
EDIT 2: ck doesn't like the fact that an esp has an esp master so he changes that automatically, great!

I've tried:

-Connecting the worldspace to skyrim with a load door
-Added location type
-Changed flags, dimensions, etc in worldspace tab

Nothing works, load -> RiverWood inn

Just to report another test, Ive used tesvsnip and deleted all subrecord list (except EDID and FULL), problem remains.

I've also looked into the esp and save with hex but I'm not sure what I'm looking for so.....

But there are also some good news, TESVGecko is in the making, and that will most likely solve merging.

Good, but in the meanwhile.....?

Doesn't seem correct that this is in the wiki:

http://www.creationkit.com/Mod_merging

Gonna edit the page.

More testing lead me to this conclusions:

-Tesannwyn doesn't seem to cause problems
-Using tesvnip just to change/add masters causes the load/save bug, seems that anything made with this program will cause problems

Good news, I think I've done it, if I don't encounter problems I will update the wiki to help others.
