Can you still get the ring of hircine and saviors Hide if you follow the steps to get both?

Well assuming you're using the right steps yes. Ring first then go back and get the hide.

I've been reading on the Skyrim wiki on how to do it btw

You can kill him after all the enemy hunters are defeated. Just dont take his pelt. Go get the ring. Return and take said pelt.
