no. worse case scenario for Microsoft is by the end of this year at the earliest they get a bad ruling. Then they will file a motion to stay judgment until an appeal. That will take a long time. There will likely be a settlement in there or by then the next xbox will be out and the issue will be moot.

I'm failing to see how something between Motorola and Microsoft has anything to do with the development of things made by Bethesda. Please explain.

A game console cannot become an illegal substance. This isn't communist China.

No, this shouldn't affect the game at all. The dispute only applies to tech used in the xbox 360 console and the ban would only be on the sale of the console. Games, dlc and such are not the console and so shouldn't be affected.

The patent system is so broken. I remember reading not too long ago that more money is spent each year on patent litigation than the entire US budget.

Anyways, as others have said, the chances of sales being banned are probably rather small. Even if it does happen, I don't see why that would impact the DLCs as everyone who currently owns an Xbox 360 will still be able to use it.

I highly doubt they'll start pulling xboxes off the shelves or kill live. It will most likely be a settlement for an ungodly number that at worst will affect how Microsoft deals with the nex generation of systems. Maybe they'll have to use 15 year old tech instead of just 6 years like they did win the 360

As stated the chances of this actually happening are very small, worse case will likely be MS pays them off or Next Gen will be starting a little sooner. This will ONLY effect new console sales, not sold consoles or there online business.

If things do go badly, the next gen might not save anything. If it relies on the same patents that were violated in the 360, those would also be blocked or it'd be delayed until they could be removed.

But, since Obama does have the final say, I seriously doubt he'd ban it.
