I might play skyrim in the next few days, would you all mind

Post » Tue Jun 19, 2012 10:35 am

I have never played through and elder scrolls game. I hear they are awesome and I'm borrowing the game from a family member for the next couple of days.

I have some questions to ask. I was thinking about playing a Wizard type charector. throw some fireballs, summon some skeletons, ect. Wanna be really diplomatic and I don't want to engage in combat unless I really have to.

I do not want to ever touch a sword or uncivilized such weapon and I never want to wear armour.

Questions,

Is there an unarmoured skill?

What kind of outfits are we dealing with here? I consider myself somewhat of a Fashionista, ( Fashonisto?) And I can't be seen wearing robes.

That is so last year, darling.

Is there a dodge skill? and if so, how useful is it?

Is there still an acrobatic skill?

How about athletics?

I played morrowwind for a bit and they were in there.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

1. Unarmored used to exist in Morrowind, but was removed in Oblivion and has been gone since. However, Alteration has a set of perks called Mage Armor that increases the effectiveness of protective spells when you are wearing no armor.

2. Outfits are Nordic in style, that means common clothes are thick flax and burlap with fine clothing being padded linens and furs. Lots of dirt, too.

3. No dodging skill. Closest you get is a perk in Light Armor that grants a chance for a blow that struck you to deal no damage.

4 and 5. Acrobatics and Athletics are gone.

Ah, welcome, my fashionable friend...
There is no official unarmed skill, however certain perks and special items will allow you to play unarmed if you wish.
If you are a mage who does not favour robes, I suggest Light Armor as a substitute, or, as i see you shun armour, normal clothing (or perhaps fine clothing would be to your taste)
Acrobatics and athletics are not a part of this game.

Unfortunately....you will be dissapointed in this game if those are features you are looking for.

The only unarmored is protective spells, with effects that cannot be enchanted into clothing....only cast as a short period spell.

No dodging, acrobatics, atheletics....everyone moves the same...the onyl difference is heavy armors will make you run a bit slower.

Also, playing the diplomat is a playstyle you are going to give up fairly quickly. Combat is, 9 times out of 10, the only solution to certain problems.

Pretty much none. You can play a wizard, no problems (though you can't rely purely on destruction) but there's no unarmored skill anymore (instead wearing robes fortrifies various magic skills, but you can transfer these enchantments to other clothes) no acrobatics and athletics, due to how easily they were spammed and how they would level you like crazy, merely, instead of running faster you can run longer.

No dodge skill... I'm not sure the series ever had one (maybe in Daggerfall)

That's about it, hope it helps

For a couple of days? Hmmmm ... I suggest you look up cheat codes ... level a mage in conjuration and sneek ... use a pair of daedra lords to do your fighting while you watch them from the shadows --- stark naked, of course.

"Would you mind all terribly..." "Fashionisto" I'm touched beyond words. I have hope yet for the future :touched:

Anyways, I suggest you to play this game, even without those features you wanted. It is still a great game and very fun to play.

OP, don't spend your money on this game if you hope to do a low amount, or no amount, of combat.

Even walking the roads between towns, you'll get attacked by bandits/thiefs, and also spiders, bears, wolves, etc.

I also would say that most quests eventually require you to perform combat, and if you don't want to do that, most of those quests will be unplayable for you.

There are about 150 dungeongs/cave systems in the game, and they all require combat, and some of them are also connected with a quest.

Good luck.
