Might be a stupid question

...but I don't have any other options left.

Like many people, the computer virus part of "Still in the Dark" is bugged for me. I don't have a previous save to go back to, and there doesn't seem to be a console command that will fix the problem, so I was wondering if it was possible to fix the issue using the GECK? Specifically, the problem is that the virus on the terminals is supposed to be gone after you partition three, and despite partitioning three, it's still not considered gone; but because three have been partitioned, the virus isn't showing up on any new terminals.

I loaded the New Vegas .esm file into the GECK, and managed to find some stuff related to that part of the quest, but admittedly, I don't know the first thing about the GECK. Will modifying one of the scripts potentially fix the issue I'm having?

If one of you guys out there that are savvy with the GECK could look into the problem or have any advice, I would greatly, greatly appreciate it.

Just to be clear - you succeeded with the Science check to make it so when you partition the virus then the virus will stay on that terminal even after the 90 second timer is up, correct? So you've got three different terminals, all of them with the virus showing up on them, right? What do the three messages say?

Anyway, yes, it's probably possible to fix this issue in the GECK, but I'd like some more information prior to digging through the quest scripts (also, I need to get some sleep right now:/)

Yeah, my science skill was enough, so I passed the speech check. So my new goal was to partition the virus on three terminals before the timer expires. I started the timer, and managed to partition the virus on three terminals during two or three separate attempts (I don't remember if it was two or three); when I partitioned, instead of the wall of gibberish, the terminal had a message taunting me, and it gave me the option to partition, so I did.

Now, those three terminals permanently have the option to "Check Partition" when I access them after talking to Ibsen. If I don't talk to Ibsen and I check the terminal, I get two options: "Check Partition" and the option to access the databank, which results in the wall of gibberish like any infected, non-partitioned terminal. If I activate the timer again, no new terminal has a virus, and despite already having the virus partitioned on three terminals, the timer still expires and I get the "Almost had it that time" speech from Ibsen.

Presumably, the solution would involve resetting the terminals in the GECK, or resetting Ibsen's dialog so I can attempt it without passing the science speech check, or even just fixing the script so he recognizes that now that the virus is partitioned on three terminals, the issue is resolved.

Thanks for the reply.
