Minotaurs

One thing I dearly miss from Oblivion was Minotaurs, Do you guys think they'll return in a future add on... They were so fun to hunt and their horn were awesome alchemy ingredient... Thoughts?

Not sure seems unlikely, but shaggy haired versions could look good.

I didn't really like the generic looking ones in oblivion, but it would be awesome if they redesigned them so they can fit into skyrim

I can't see them coming back. Oblivion captured the spirit of the Medieval period and fantasy, such as Unicorns and Minotaurs.

Skyrim goes for the uber realistic approach and everyone is as hard as nails and think they are all tough because they have chest hair and beards.(You can thank Sheo for that one.)

I wish they'd come back, but I'm not holding my breath.

http://thetorchonline.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/minotaur.jpg would have been the perfect skyrim minotaur. Maybe remove the armor so they can look more savage

Minus the armor, I really don't see a huge differnece between the Oblivion mino and that mino.

they where easily the most cartoonish looking enemy in oblivion but i would gladly welcome them in skyrim if they where given a bit of a facelift and some shaggier hair would be nice to have a big powerful looking enemy to face that isnt a bear or a dragon and there horns could become a required item for the iron helmet

Look at http://images.wikia.com/elderscrolls/images/d/df/Minotaur_246643.jpg , they looked like hairy pro bodybuilders with bull masks on. The one I posted is way more beastly and savage and fits skyrim in some way

Probably not, my theory is that it's to cold for them. I never found minotaurs in the snowy areas of Cyrodiil.
Maybe if some circus had one with them as a circus animal or something, but I don't see any wild minotaurs appearing in the future.
Unless something serious and threatening should cause some kind of migration.

Yeah but there aren't just snowy places in Skyrim, we have the marshes and woods... :/

I personally like that look better imo. I mean, I love what they did with Giants. I really do, in hindsight, minotaurs and ogres just seem silly by comparison

True but they would have to cross a snowy mountain.
The original Minotaur was a greek myth so to me it doesn't belong in the more arctic and cold environment of Skyrim.
I like the minotaur a lot but it just wouldn't fit. I could accept ogres though.

I enjoy new monsters as much as the next TES fan it's just some monsters that doesn't feel right to me in that setting.
And mispaced monsters are not good, of course they could revamp the Minotaurs in order to fit them in, but I don't know where they would put them.

I kinda like how in Skyrim the real-world creatures outnumber the fantastic creatures. That's an aspect of all good fantasy, I think; fantastic elements embedded in a largely realistic world.

That said, the minotaur in itself would work fine with Skyrim, Greek origins notwithstanding.

It would be neat to see more of a play on musk ox humanoids. Something shaggy, maybe tribes of them similar to giants. Whatever that new enemy looking giant was we saw in the dawnguard trailer made me groan, it looked more like an Oblivion model monster to me, very generic body design, nothing about the monster made think it looked interesting. Which is odd, everything in Skyrim is very interesting looking. I still get chills looking at the Draugr with the high rez texture pack.

Gargoyles returned from Daggerfall to make a presence in Dawnguard it'd appear.

So really, if the creature fits in with a designated DLC region, it could well show up.

Minotaurs are Cyrodiil's thing. Let them have their thing.
