Missing Khajiit caravaneers

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 6:26 pm

Risaads tent and their fire and other stuff is all set up outside Whiterun. However, none of the khajiit are actually there. I've heard that the caravans have been buggy for some people, but I've not encountered it until now. Anyone else have something like this happen?

Will the missing khajiit eventually return?

Happens to me all the time. Their tents are set up but the Khajiit have already hit the road en route to their next town.

Kind of a pain because I get my hopes up about having another fence available and then it's all lies. ;o;

If you fast travel a lot it does this...sometimes I have all the khajiit their doing their regular routines but nothing is there

I don't fast travel but there was a time period when they (i.e. all of the caravans) never set up tents in my game. They'd behave exactly like their camp was intact, but none of the objects appeared (no tents, no campfire, etc.). Then, for some reason, it got righted and ever since they're presented properly. It's definitely a lot harder to recognize their presence near town when there's no camp. I'm glad my game sorted it out.

Thanks. I kinda figured this wouldn't be a major deal, but wanted to confirm it.

It's the opposite. The camp appears normally at least a few minutes before they get there

Hopefully, they are just travelling somewhere. I don't play the main quest, so it wasn't a dragon.

Other way round for me. Sometimes they're there but with not tents.

Both has happened to me, they will be back, can not be killed but dragons might delay them.
Also as other say fast travel and carriages might mess up the schedule.

Sometimes they're there, but no camp, and other times they're not there, but camp.

I have encountered this problem too. In one occasion, the tent where not set up and the khajiit where there just standing and still talk to the player but would not give any training or sell items. Another occasion would be the same one as the tent where set up and the khajiit where not present at the tent. The last one would be only a single khajiit would be present and be accounted for.

I did find a dead Khajiit trader out in the wilds in my game. Not sure if that is something that's always there that I stumbled across or if one of the caravan leaders managed to get killed somehow but he was there. I looted the body and got several nice items.

You can find some destroyed caravans however they have wagons unlike the active caravans and have never been alive.

You also have some traders as random encounters but newer run into Khajiit ones.

A trader? you mean the skooma traders? Because I haven't met any regular traders along the way aside from the Khajiit groups.

There are some "Peddlers" you can come across traveling with (but not on) a horse. They tend to be Redguards when I come across them.

I have actually seen these guys on the road.

There are three caravans, one travels between Markarth and Whiterun, one goes Dawstar to Whiterun to Riften and the other Windhelm to Solitude.

It sounds like their schedules are mess up.If you have a safe place to sleep(ie: house or a safe location) you should go there and take a break and wait/sleep 4 days or so this should reset the schedules.I was told at one point to wait 30 days but I found that 4-6 days rest is good enough.

I had a strange issue where in they seemed to be traveling back and forth in a north-south kinda' path, but, from what people have said it seems it was caused by Fast Traveling and fits what CCNA said. Basically, I was trying to complete a quest for them and the map marker showed where they were. I Fast Traveled to a location in the north near their marker then when I arrived their marker was south of me so I Fast Traveled to a location near them again and when I arrived their marker appeared in the north again. I went back and forth a few times like this until I just 'normal' traveled along the road to them. :P

I often fast-travel a lot while selling, since I'm a complete loot-fiend and have a (literal, in some cases) ton of crap to unload, and I've found that doing so over a long period screws up the caravans' schedules. This often has them at one end and their tents at the other, since the game has essentially lost track of where they're supposed to be. It doesn't always happen, though, so there must be something else going on as well.

HEH this is what happened to me when i was doing a quest for one of them, took me about 4 or 5 fast travels before i caught up to them.

Oh? I tried waiting for an in-game hour but they never showed up. I guess I'll give this a try next time.

There are several dead khajiit just out of Helgen near the side path to Orphan Rock. Also, the bandits that did 'em in are there. Some decent loot, including a skill book....
