Missing Magicka Buffed Health

Post » Thu May 31, 2012 12:46 am

Somehow I've lost 200 magicka and gained 14 health. I've heard of the perma health buff bug but I'm pretty lost when it comes to how 200 points of my magicka is being debuffed.

See this screenshot:

I set my Magicka and Health to 0 via player.setav and as you can see, my Magicka is at -100 and my Health is at 14. What gives?! The base for both of them should be 270.

Does anyone know a way to console these [de]buffs out? Clearly the game knows what my base Magicka and Health are so how can I get it them both white and showing the base again?

No mods installed, no active magic effects. Not a vampire, not a werewolf, not diseased. I slept for a few days to see if there would be any change and there wasn't any.

My mistake. I lost 200 Magicka - not 100. Edited.

Try leveling and see if it fixes itself.

bring up the console and target yourself, then type getavinfo magicka and getavinfo health

For example it will show your base health at 270, and show any modifiers to that. Usually when you have gear enchanted with buffs, you'll see that total added in I believe the "Temporary" category. Usually when you hit the health buff bug, the buff I believe will show up in the "Permanent" category. Take off any gear that buffs your health or magicka, run "getavinfo health" and in your case, you should see "14" in one of the categories. Then just type "setav health 270" in the console and it will set your health to the base, and get rid of the buff. You will see that "14" has disappeared from the Perm category.

Do the same for magicka. "getavinfo magicka" "setav magicka 270"

when i played this game on the PS3 I ran into the health buff bug on my first character, stayed with me through the whole game. I'm pretty sure it came from drinking crafted potions that fortify health. Ran into it again on the PC and just ran those commands to get rid of it.

Thanks wasd_plz. Here is a screenshot of the output for Health and Magicka [magicka is at the top]

http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/2131/2012031800005.jpg

I already added the missing 200 magicka via setav and removed 14 health via setav so my final values are at least equal to what they should be but they are still considered buffed and debuffed.

As you can see under modifiers for Magicka, I've got a -100 perm debuff and under health +14 perm buff.

That's really weird that you still have .93 tacked on your health, and I've never seen the level-up value effected like that. Have you leveled up with that buff still on?

I've run those commands on my character now to show what it should look like when you have item(s) buffing your health

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h215/brianm2k6/TESV2012-03-1812-52-18-13.jpg

And this is with no items buffing my health

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h215/brianm2k6/TESV2012-03-1812-53-09-08.jpg

As you can see my current value matches my base, and my level-up value. I think the reason your's still shows up as a buff is because you still have a .93 buff to your health.

When I had the health buff bug on this character, it was a 9.97 health buff. Using "setav health 380" got rid of the bug, and I didn't have a lingering .97 afterwards.

Thanks for the reply. I can't see those pics as they point to thumbnails. Can you update those links?

I don't know what the .93 is about - I assumed the game used whole numbers for things like that, buffs included.

I took both screenshots after disrobing and waiting out any buffs so nothing is active and I'm not wearing anything.

Using the setav doesn't do anything except add or remove, it doesn't clear out the buffs for me. For example, with my magicka showing red 170 [minus the 100] I set it to 270 -setav magicka 270. and it remained the same. Which it should since the base is suppose to be 370 since I'd been adding to it for most of my levels but it thinks it's 270 [-100]. Why it shows it's only missing -100 I don't know because when I set it at 0 [setav magicka 0] it showed -100 which is what I would expect if 200 was missing since the base is 100. If only 100 was missing and I set it to 0 from 170 then it should show 70. Wouldn't it?

Think the links are updated now. Don't know why they were pointing to thumbnails. Haven't used photobucket in a long time, and has proven to be quite fail now.

Yes, I'd imagine if you set your magicka to what ever it should be, the -100 should clear out of the permanent category, and not show up as red numbers. Same with health. If those numbers are persisting through setting your values, my last advice is to try the same using "forceav magicka 270" and "modav magicka 270"

If those fail to fix your problem then unfortunately something must be going on with your game that I don't understand :(

Nice! That did it!

I set my magicka and health to the computed base for each and they are now white and unbuffed. Thanks a bunch wasd_plz! Great way to get ride of the perma buff - getavinfo for your character, find the computed base then forceav to that computed base.

*high five*

 Grats I had a stuck skill number never a stuck stat value leveling fixed it for me....one of the only bugs I encountered at all post patch 1.4. So you have a buff/debuff that never went away or something?

Ya Thoth my Magicka was down 200 points and my Health was up 14 and I couldn't get it back. I didn't level yet so maybe it would have cleared by then but I somehow don't think it would have as I loaded some earlier saves and noticed a steady increase in lost Magicka over the last 5 levels. When I level next I take a look at see if it goes down again.

Meh no magicka can hurt depending on your play style so I understand not wanting to suffer to the next level. I just had a minus 10 one handed (was 80 went to 70) so it was like uber hard mode for a level on master which was actually fun. A console command would have fixed my issue too but I tend to try and avoid using it so I can see what it would be like to be one of the many console players of the game. I feel for them greatly.

Well I'm playing mostly a mage type so I need that magaicka but the loss wasn't so too-too bad with the right jewelry and perks - still though.

Ya I figured playstyle differences and all. I prefer a melee character with minor magic use.
