Shadowmere is missing. He's not dead (I still have a horse owned in my general statistics) but he's no where to be found.

Any idea on where to find him, how to get him back?

Playing on XBox 360.

If you never rode him then he will still be where you first encountered him.

If you left him behind somewhere then fast travelling a couple of times can usually bring him back to your side.

Yeah you can lose him at random. Mine disappeared and I assumed him dead until I traveled to Labrinthia to drop off two more masks and low and behold he lives! I would recommend trying to fast travel back to the last place you remember seeing him but honestly by the time you realize he is missing it is going to be difficult.

I was finishing up the DB quest and when I returned from the mission to Solitude to the Sanctuary to find "uninvited guests." After the bloodbath, I searched the nearby forest for Shadowmere, but no luck.

I'd like to finish the move to a new locale, but I don't want to leave Shadowmere behind.

Try fast travelling somewhere? They usually follow you.

I lost mine because I got on frost by accident...never saw him/her again

Shadowmere is not "immortal" in the usual sense. He/She (it has been both sixes across the TES games) can die but she will always respawn after a set time. If you can't find her after fast travelling a few times then go back to the pond near the Dark Brotherhood hideout where you first get her, I believe that is her set respawn location.

Try outside the dark brotherhood den, and at the cave entrance to Helgen... where you come out at the start of the game.

I only used him during the DB mission and never used him again. Then I was up near Helgen one day(a place I never went with him) and he was standing outside the cave entrance. I guess he doesn't return to the DB hideout because...


... so he goes to 'your' spawn point.... Helgen.

Mine got killed in a battle. I waited well over 10 days as I read on the Wiki, which said he'd reappear where he died, but still no respawn. Is it in error and do I have to go back to the pond to get him back?

As I posted previously, I lost Shadowmere for a while. After a search of the area I'd last seen him, which caused me to get attacked by a bunch of frostbite spiders, I gave up. Then I was completing one of the very last stops on the DB quests (a certain tomb) and heard something behind me (which from past experience I expected to be a troll) and there was Shadowmere pawing the ground.

I am pretty sure this is a bug. I had the same thing happen, then I was walking by there one day and was attacked by an Archer of the Emperor's elite guard, and then Shadowmere came charging out of the little pool outside of the DB Sanctuary...try it, lure an enemy over there and maybe with luck Shadowmere will come out. According to the wiki it is some bug where shadow gets stuck in the pool...
