Missing sound effects

Post » Tue May 29, 2012 3:21 am

I'm about 120 hrs into Skyrim with no problems, however after the transferring my steam folder from one external hard drive to a different one (which I then assigned the directory letter of the old hard drive) the sound effects for drawing and swinging weapons are missing. Also shouts no longer have a sound effect. There might be others, but these are the only ones I have noticed so far. I thought maybe something went wrong in the transfer so I verified my game cache on steam, and when that didn't help I deleted the local game files, then re-downloaded and re-installed with steam. This made absolutely zero difference. Anyone have an idea whats wrong, and how to fix it?

Read this, there's a link on the page to download a couple of sound files you may be missing.

Thanks for the pointer Nemesis. All the links to get the sound.bsa file were expired. does anyone know somewhere where it is available? Better yet does anyone know how to get it legitimately from steam? Deleting the local files and re downloading didnt work, but maybe there is another way...

There's several active download links on FilesTube, hope that helps.

Manually adding in the sounds.bsa didnt work. I contacted steam and they had me delete all my files in the steam directory except steamapps and steam.exe and verify game cache, but this also didnt work. I found another thread on the nexus that was about a similar problem, but there was no solution. Anyone have other ideas on what to do?
