Missing the point? Raging, not Racing.

I just want to take a moment to point out a slight error, or misconception that a few uninformed members of the gaming community have in regards to the main theme of RAGE.... people, this is a FIRST PERSON SHOOTER with a few racing missions involved in the game play... NOT a racing game that also has FPS gameplay. I know i sound like I'm being a stickler over stupid details, but I just find it kind of ignorant and insulting for both ill informed individuals and well known game review websites (I will not name the offenders) to brand this title from ID as a "fast paced, explosive racing game set in a post apocalyptic world where players can upgrade a their buggy with mods and upgrades" and then half way down the page note there is first person game play, when this studio has stuck with the FPS format since their dawn and devoted their efforts to bring us legends like Doom and Quake... Not racing games. If you think I'm unjustified in making this a topic, wikipedia "RAGE" and tell me they don't list this as a "racing game".... Cheers all.

Im pretty confused about what the game actually is. I heard it was a fps fallout. Then i read it was a racing game. That instantly puts me off because im not into racing. Then i heard it was an fps but the multiplayer only had racing. Then i gave up. Theres too many big titles coming out to bother trying to figure out what this is and because of Brink i wont be buying any Bethesda title on release.

Actually just watched a gameplay video. It looks pretty sweet.

RAGE is an FPS like Doom and Quake, but there are a good number of areas that allow for exploring. There is a main quest and side quests, but not a bunch of non-sense quests like most rpgs. There are racing quests, but you can skip them if you do not like them. The multiplayer i currently only Racing, but they are experimenting with more modes. The coop (Legends of the Wasteland) is a separate chunk of fps missions.

There are also towns you can wander around in. There will not be dialog trees like Fallout, but you can still interact with citizens. You buy/sell guns and items and it seems you can play board games with he towns folk.

Yeah. It looks good. Liked the electric crossbow thing. Seems theres a wide choice of weapons. If it gets decent reviews i might buy it. Unfortunaly for the devs i think they'll catch some fallout from Brink's horrible release. I doubt i'm the only person who has become wary of Bethesda
