Despite Mjoll’s boast about the good bit she can carry, she is a lightweight. First of all not only is she my adventuring companion, but also my wife. Lately I have been noticing that she can carry very little. It has gotten to the point that if anything I can only give here stuff weighing only 1 or 2, if that. I thought that maybe she had a disease affecting her stats, but couldn’t find a way to check…and no way to get her to take her medicine.
Anyways, last night I need help taking down Alduin, and since Mjoll can’t get killed, I didn’t worry too much about throwing here out there (she’s my wife, she’ll forgive me). I figure that she might do better with a smithed up Dragonbane and a fire resist enchanted shield than her usual Ebony Warhammer. So I ask to trade stuff with her. I take the warhammer (weight 30) and try to give her the Dragonbane (weight 14) and the Ebony shield (14). I get the message that that items weigh too much. Huh? I think, okay fine, I’ll give her back her warhammer and forget the trade….noooo, the warhammer is now too heavy as well. I take all her armor and then try and give it back. She takes and reequips the Ebony armor (38) and the Ebony boots (7), but can take nothing else…it all weighs too much. WTF?
Now I am wondering if all her “store inventory” that she has to sell is counting as some of her weight carry capacity. I ask what she has to sell. Usually when in follower mode, she either has no inventory or no money, so there is little use for asking her what she has to sell when she is my follower. But this time it showed she had a Banded Iron Armor (35) and Iron boots (6). I buy that stuff off her, then try a trade. Now she takes her Ebony helm(10), Ebony gauntlets(7), the shield, and Dragonbane! Woohoo!
I guess the point of this is IMO store inventory weight should be suspended, when in follower mode.
And the moral of the story is: if you are worried about carrying capacity, then be sure your spouses’ store inventory is empty when in follower mode.
