Mod team?

Post » Mon May 28, 2012 7:32 pm

So I remember Bethesda having the mod team help on oblivion. Now how does that work. Let's say the mod team fixes something couldn't they just send the coding to Bethesda an they use it the patch? Or is it more complicated then that.

If that's how it works couldn't the game be fixed faster this way?

At the moment, they're compiling a bug list and sending it to them.

But if they can fix it them selves would that not cut down the time we would have to wait for Bethesda to fix it, if its alredy fixed an they incorparate it into a patch. Im not downing the mod team I appreciate what they do for us even though they shouldnt have to, Im just trying to understand how it works.

In order for the mod team to fix the number of bugs that have been identified they would need the Creation Kit, which isn't out yet. Otherwise, anything they create wouldn't be usable by Bethesda since it doesn't utilize the actual game code. At least that's my understanding.

Ah ok I see now. Is that how they fixed oblivion faster was with the Creation kit? Why would they not have just put that in from the start then, all of this or most could have been fixed by now.

The creation kit has not yet been released so there is very little that can currently done. I believe the unofficial patch team is waiting until Bethesda is done patching the game so they aren't replicating work that's already being done.

It shouldn't work this way at all really. Bethesda should have put in a couple extra months and released a more polished product.

Edit: Oblivion was not fixed "faster".

Yup, that's pretty much it.

You can add to it that Bethesda's Skyrim team is three times the size that Oblivion's was, and they've probably made half a billion dollars from Skyrim so far. so, they have sufficient resources of money and people to fix the vast majority. Me, I hope they fix them all. Why shouldn't console players get all the fixes too? They're probably 70-80% of the market.

I do agree with you they should have waited instead of having to have the mod team help unless it was a must i just think once they get the kit an we atrt to more progress in a faster rate we across all platforms will be happier.
