[ Bug Report ] Modding Varmit Rifle with Night Scope -

Post » Thu Apr 14, 2011 9:38 pm

Hi!

Got another bug report for ya Devs, so you can hopefully use our feedback to make a patch -

I noticed that after modding my Varmit Rifle to include the silencer, it worked great, i could snipe from quite a ways off and have accuracy while hidden- i used it all the time-

then i found the mod to add a night scope, and i thought "aw yeah!"-

but in fact it completely ruined the gun!

I noticed i could no longer hit anything at all with any reliable accuracy, in VATS i would get 10% accuracy from the same point i used an unmodded varmit-

the difference was at least 30%!!

In iron sights mode also it seems impossible to score a hit now with the night scope enabled varmit rifle-

Luckily, i was able to find another silencer for a different unmodded varmit rifle, and now i am able to be effective again!

just wanted to share this, and wondering if anyone else noticed this!

I use the fully modded Varmint Rifle/Ratslayer almost exclusively when in the open Wasteland.

I've encountered no such problems. When using the appropriate ammunition for the right enemy type, almost everything but Deathclaws are 1-hit kills with head shots.

Throw in "Better Criticals" perk and a respectable gun skill and you're a sneaking machine.

i think you are missing the point, i can take an unmodded varmit rifle (without night vision) and a modded one (with night vision) and stand in the same spot, switch weapons, go into VATS and i can see a huge decrease in available accuracy at a target when i use the one with night vision-

they are the same weapon!

the accuracy should be the same!

by simply adding the night vision scope, the gun LOSES about 30% of accuracy in VATS- no matter what your gun stat is or perks taken-

this has to be a bug- why would they penalize you so much for modding a weapon? it basically nerfs it!

In reality they should allow you to also remove the mod from the various guns. But oh well. I've just been buying every mod I can find and keeping multiples of weapons so I can try out each mod separately. I really think they should have added gun mods to random loot.. If they have I haven't found a single one yet. There's also a ton of ammo types I barely ever stumble upon. I really thought taking the scrounger perk would fix that but it didn't.
