A modest proposal

Game testers are usually the employees paid to play the games to find the flaws before the game is released to the public, a job i'm sure i would utterly detest. Being paid to find the negatives of an activity i enjoy, sounds the epitome of a job that truly svcks the soul from a man. To these noble few i salute for they brave the traps and sacrifice themselves so the customer isn't trapped in a game with corrupted data, minus 20 hours of their time, and half a 100 give or take whatever the national currency. Hark tho i hear the cries of a 1,000,000 + loyal fans who paid full price for what has been lauded as a over hyped gimmick laden dead god of a DLC whose only remarkable features are what could be described as "fixes" of the predecessors barely tolerable "bugs" no to mention the sheer amount of basically broken "reality" in the game. Now i cant claim that there was no use of the loosely defined profession but it is blatantly oblivious that either the team or time given to them was to small, or maybe there was a complete lack of professionalism and i don't mean to lay blame solely on the testers only as obviously the programing is busted as well as unseen. Maybe the laws and terminology only stand true in america for this anology but if a car salesmen sells you a lemon of a car without your foreknowledge than you have the protected right to take legal action. now the comparison of price between a car and video game is vast the games price pithy a need for legal action.

To quote ceasar "ipso facto" i propose a modest request as we still want to play the game and to do so must accept both the limitations of the crippled product and price we paid to the cap.

I propose a refund not a full refund as those of us whose faith was broken have already done so or the stores have now been informed of the necessary precautions to take to prevent refunding. also not to every single buyer just those who bought day of and before the date of the patch that fixes all the flaws littered throughout the wasteland and if not us at least those at the wikia and here on the forum finding and cataloging the bugs for any and all to be saved from their harm. i propose a modest $10 dollar refund or maybe we could get the 1st DLC for free something to make amends the effort and frustration we paid full price for. Of course we would provide proper documentation to prove our credentials for receiving the refund.

(disclaimer) i am not a respected member of the wikia or these forums this is my first post here, and i was the 1st to describe turbo and the 357 magnum not shooting on the wikia, as much as i would want the refund i don't expect this speech to pass the check. hell i will be shocked if it gets views. i'm just insulted that i worked hard unemployed to get this one game only to be exiled out of the strip, you know the title of the game. i can only pray a faction supports my idea and brings it to fruition. other wise i'm going to smoke more weed and kill more fiends for more laser tommy gun ammo.

I don't think we'd be entirely out of line asking for free DLC, let alone demanding it. And I'm not talking some dinky little weapons pack or something. Good DLC like Mothership Zeta sized. I feel we, as a player base, are entitled due to recent events.

i do hope that the first substantial DLC is released free to players as an amends to the issues included in the game's official release. but you should be mindful of using words like "demand" and "entitled". i don't necessarily feel that there is any obligation on their part to give us any new content for free. but if they want to protect their reputation (and have a hope of people ever buying their products on release day again), i would expect them to do something like give us free DLC as an apology.

Really you don't? So you dont feel ripped off? Read through these forums. What do you see? Dozens of people who lost their save games, dozens of hours of their lives. (video games arnt wasted time, to quote a certain NPC: Time you enjoying wasting isnt wasted time). They arnt entitled to something? They spent $60 or even more money just to be slapped in the face with a broken product. Speaking personally, I will never buy another game developed by obsidian.

The first DLC free would do a lot to ease some hurt feelings.

Will it happen? No.

Am I buying an Obsidian game ever again at release? No.

I can understand the mentality of some games (MMOS) shipping and needing to be patched up the first few weeks of release to be able to play the game properly. But, this game is a single player game not meant to be played online.

Not everyone has XBOX LIVE or broadband, and, this being a single player game, should not need game breaking glitches fixed through patching. Otherwise, it should say on the package that a broadband connection is necessary to play the game.

I agree that the developers need to make free downloadable content for those that keep the game. Because when someone pays 60+ dollars for a product, they expect it to work properly and not have to wait around for it to be fixed.

Ive gave up trying to play the game. Its getting returned to a local store, for a full refund, and I will also not be buying anything else with Obsidians name on it.

not for nothing but I kinda agree with everyone. Its some major BS that I have spend 26 hours playing the game just to lose all the work I accomplished. I lost 1 save file that was 8 hours in and another at 18 hours. I contacted tech support they asked me to send them my save file and since then its been god riddance. At this point I do not think the developer or even the tech support cares about the issue. If they did obviously they would have some sort of communication to the people effected. All i was asking for was some sort of compliance telling me that they are working on a fix. How do we know they are actually working on fixing the issue? If the company really thought about it maybe they wouldn't have continued using the same failure of an engine for the games. Don't get me wrong I absolutely love the Fallout series but the engine needs to get scrapped and put into the furnace for something that actually works. At this point I want to return the game and get my money back and then when the patch comes out I will buy it at a used price because 80 Dollars was not worth it for me to waste my time to restart the game because of incompetent game tester or developers who can't find the flaws in their own coding. They have debugging and beta tests for large projects like these....clearly we know which company skipped that step during creation.

QFT. I'll tell you right now if the DLC hits before a patch to fix the myriad of bugs and glitches, I won't purchase it. Until this game is in working condition I wont purchase any DLC for NV or any other game released by Bethesda/ Obsidian.

Your best bet would be that they would add a free downloadable armor as an apology for these problems... one which will be glitched and cause the system to freeze when equipped...

Free DLC? Free items?

They aren't even patching the game guy, what makes you think they're going to GIVE us anything?

They don't care. They are counting money and gearing up for the next broken game launch.

Would be awesome if they gave me the DLC that has been removed and ruined my 20+ hours off fallout.

To the OP
I like your style, you're a glass half full kinda guy.
But i think it'll be a cold day in hell if this happens.
Its a simple case of greed,my friend, greed released the buggy game, greed will reap the profits from DLC.
