Mojave Mercs

Does anyone else feel like its odd the only the NCR provides backup? I mean House can't spare a robot? The legion can't even give one of their many dogs or soldiers? If you don't side with the NCR what then? You can still go beat the came but your stuck at a limited party of three instead of 4 like the NCR gives. I think a great dlc/update would be to install a merc unit in the Mojave desert. They would provide followers for caps limiting to only one. It could work like in the Operation Anchorage where you select the follower you want, the better equip guys costing more caps. Basically a stronger version of the Freeside bodyguards. I think there should be perhaps seven or so choices in total. One representing each weapons class with a couple extra spots for sniper choices and maybe idk a protectron or something? And these followers would follow anyone, regardless of karma or reputation. Their mercs, they get paid.

I'll list an example of of what I imagine this would look like for selections. Only a example nothing perfect so the cap cost will be skewed.

1. Gun Class: Combat Armor, Hunting Shotgun or Lever-Action shotgun. 300 caps

2. Gun Class: Stealth Armor, Sniper Rifle: 450 caps

3. Energy Class: Metal Armor, Laser RCW: 400 caps

4. Explosive Class: Leather Armor, Grenade Rifle: 450 caps

5. Melee Class: Raider Armor *He could be a raider that works for chems from the merc company*, Throwing Hatchet: 250 Caps

6. Melee Class: Metal armor Reinforced, Super Sledge: 400 caps *If that seems overpowered remember just like the Ranger and Trooper they don't regain health. Also That Ranger by herself is pretty strong*

7. Unarmed Class: Leather Armor Reinforced, Bladed Gauntlet: 300 caps

8. Special: Protectron: 500 caps

9. Special: Trained Cazador or Nightstalker: 500 caps

For 8 and 9, you might want to change them to something different, and make it a bit more expensive...

Like,
9. Special Heavy Unit: Metal Armor Reinforced, Anti-Material Rifle: 5,000 Caps. (Going for the cost of ammo here.)

and for 8... it'd be more of a sentry bot... but hella expensive. Thick armor, lots of health, 10,000 caps at the most.

Overall, I really like your ideas. They'd only be mercs to tag along, with no real back story, but they are just there, to aid in combat.

That is a very good idea, but why would a protectron cost the most

It would have a large amount of health. It was just a example I could think of. I imagined it like ED-E with brotherhood upgrade. Weak but strong health so good distraction. [
